.Biz... you, nor I, not 2003, nor lotsofissues will ever, EVER need to worry about owning computers.com or if.com. ;)

When domains are that good, it's extremely hard to put a price tag on them.

I think that you have a massive bargain if you got this for $999, I have sold two .us for $850 & $950 and they were not as good as this.

.us is only going one way and that is up!

Sale.us DQ:

location: (6) - Sale.us (Decent name, maybe a little too broad, not yet in SE's)

type: (6) - The term "Sale" could be used in any industry, but may be to general a term to be identifiable to anyone product. Too bad the name wasn't "Sell.us"

income generation: (6 )- I would Sub domain this name, and create different affiliate type pages. Home.Sale.us, Business.Sale.us, Clothes.Sale.us, etc, etc.

shelf-life: (6) --Not a bad term, especially in an economic downturn like what we've been through. Isn't everything "For Sale" right now?

Sale.us CURRENT DQ is: (24)

DQ Legend:

36 to 40: Premium Name (worth over 10K)
33 to 36: Quality Name (worth up to 9,999K)
28 to 32: Above Average Name (worth up to 5 K)
24 to 27: Average (worth up to 1 K)
20 to 23: Below Average (worth up to $500)
16 to 19: Bad, but still above reg fee (worth up to $100)
12 to 15: Reg fee (worth the reg fee)

I don't think .us will make it except for succinct names like the one posted for appraisal here, or if the name is something you can associate to the US, i.e. politics as mentioned - or fashion, lifestyle, etc.

My reasons?
.us sounds weak, as there are no strong consonants. COM sounds mega-strong, Biz, info and TV sound strong too. Even .co.uk sounds stronger than .US.

Plus, .COM is already the American extension in my opiniion, at least, a lot of people think of it that way in the UK. All other countries would be happy enough with their own extensions - of course, a .COM would be nice, but they don't need it as they have always had their own.

.US has come along too late to make a difference I think...

I can't imagine a weaker sound than 'de'.

.de as you are probably aware is the 2nd most popular extension; I think I know what you mean by 'weak' and if I'm using the same criteria as you, net and org sound a like stronger than de. but of course there are more de's than net and org combined.

I don't see any reason .us won't follow the same happy rode to prosperity than any other cctld. People in Germany, UK, italy etc. were equally baffled by their new .de, .co.uk and .it extensions when they first came along. thinking .com was the only game in town. I think all the 'local' factors like us economic strength, internet usage, .kids.us issue etc and combine these with successful experience of cctlds elsewhere I can only see an upside.

'Mommy, why does that web site end in .com, I thought web sites ended in .us' ?
may not be too far off IMHO.

I would have paid $999 for sale.us, and I only buy wholesale.

Great name, great prospects, congrats.
