If you post your domain for sale on a website, you are placing an ad - you place an ad when you want to make new connections that could help you.

Just to follow up, matthew from sedo has mailed me a list of the domain sales made through sedo since the middle of july - it totals 105 names with a mix of .com's, .de's and, believe it or not, .info's too :)

I can only take these at face value - but if they are genuine as they appear, then it seems sedo is actually one of the few public listing sites actually doing anything approaching volume.

>>We haven't updated our recent sales list since the beginning of the year because too many wanna-be appraisal firms were lifting the data.

Based on the info safesys has received from sedo, I think sedo's reasoning above is a rather backward attitude as positive sales information will in itself generate confidence and further sales.

I agree 100% fizz, nothing attracts domainers like success - thats why gregs perfectname will do well.

Indeed safesys, his recent sales list with dates and prices just helps to keep things snowballing along.

SedoCoUk;

Your support is excellent, your site is great, and you´re the only domain auction site for spanish names that I know... that´s a fact.

Now, "honesty and accuracy of your posts"? As I have said, I´ve contacted 2 of the sellers that listed their names on Sedo, and both of them replied with their Sedo appraisal value, maybe is just coincidence. Of course they can be lying, but as a buyer I can´t do a big investigation, I just have to believe what the owner or represetative of the domain is saying, and taking in mind that it´s not only one case.

I only say this, I have contacted 2 persons (from the WHOIS record) of the domains that I wanted to buy, they replied the same. When I contacted your support team they also explained the tremendous big value of the names (one of the answers was almost the exact appraisal $75k If I remember). And posting here my initial bids here makes no difference; as a buyer I always start the bids with a reasonable amount ($300-$400 is a very reasonable starting bid) to initiate the negotiation, then as I have done, I just move to e-mail negotiation (via WHOIS record). You say people here is intelligent, of course, I am not trying to insult anyone´s intelligence, don´t try to confuse taking starting bids as my final offers. As I´ve said to your support team months ago "I am willing to pay up to 5k". Of course the reply was that $75k appraisal (for example) or even more.

I am not trying to harm your business reputation, and I really think you´re very professional (If I don´t, why I should be browsing your list and placing bids?). Actually is not your fault that the sellers consider appraisal values as the only amount they will take for a domain name (not traffic, not results, not language, etc.). It´s sad as I´ve said before.

You yourself placed a poll on the site, about if the appraisals exagerated the prices and makes difficult to close a sale, remember? :)

Of course some of the sellers are more intelligent. Just checking your last sales info; the final prices are more reasonable there.

Regards,

Chris

PS: Forgive my poor english

Hi Krisblade,

To be generous, your post is misleading, and I think some facts should be stated to set the record straight:

You are bidding $300 or $400 for some of the best domain names in the Spanish language, like cine.com ("film.com"), compra.com ("buy.com"), and empleo.com ("job.com").

The fact that you are getting rejected has nothing to do with "Sedo appraisals preventing a sale from closing" as your post suggests. The people on this board are intelligent, let them decide whether your valuations or Sedo's are the more accurate.

Further, saying that sellers "always" quote an eSedo appraisal of $100K is quite misleading if it happened to you once.

Please pay more attention to the honesty and accuracy of your posts when a business's reputation, (and indirecly, peoples' jobs and livelihood), are on the line. Your one misleading post led to Mole and SafeSys commenting about Sedo's "inflated valuations", when in fact the exact opposite is the truth!

You have a responsibility to the community (and to Sedo!) to tell the whole story.

Thank you!
