I received an email today from sedo that reads ....

Hello from Sedo!

This email is to inform you that our internal Parking Traffic Tracking Tool
ran a detailed analysis for your parked domain names and documented that up
to 90% of their traffic is derived from paid traffic sources.

As detailed in our Parking Terms and Conditions, Sedo allows natural type-in
and expired traffic only. Traffic from paid links or Traffic exchange
networks is prohibited. For further details please visit

http//www.sedo.com/about/tc_parking.php4?language=us

As a consequence we will be withholding the revenue of your domain
names. If the suspicious activity continues, we will have no choice but to
block your domains from further participation in Sedo's parking program.

Best Regards,

Your Sedo-Team

This is BS! I have never paid for traffic, nor have I ever had any huge traffic domains or months!

I have @150 domains there ... average @2750 views/month and about $28/month in parking revenue - big deal!. I have however sold $x,xxx worth of domains there in the last 6 months. If this isn't rectified in my favor, I'll for sure be taking my traffic and domains for sale elsewhere. Any reommendations? DNF how's that parking program coming along?

TOTAL BS!

I have recived the same email.
This is absurd I have 195 domains with Sedo. I have been parking with them for 14 months now All the traffic originating from my domains is type in . All domains have ovt with ext, Further to that i host my names with a very reputable company and can provide all logs to suppport my claims. I demand an Apology from Sedo and my parking revenue.

What if the domain is no longer used, and the name is still linked to that domain from various sites? Is that unnatural traffic? I had a domain that is no longer in use, but still has alot of incoming links...

I wonder if the traffic exchange parts has to do with posting links on other sites to the domain name. I wonder because I have found links to some of my domains on peoples websites that i didnt put there they just misspelled the name or it was similar to mine and they put it on their site.

I'm not sure ? I've never linked any parked domains... but furthermore, I've clicked many links on this forum, in user's signatures, that go directly to a sedo parked page. Really, their info is wrong, I register new or expired domains or buy them here and simply change the dns .. that's it.

I'd received the same email and I'd never used or paid for any traffic exchange or paid links.

"90% of their traffic is derived from paid traffic sources." ? and all of you get the same email ? that's mean Sedo's didn't do accurate analysis from their "Traffic Tracking Tool" ?

So if I would like to sell the name that parked at sedo on DNF , I could not show or link to that name ? Does Sedo mean by putting links to the signature on dnforum is count as traffic exchange/links ?

Thats not very impressive at all, $28 earned off 150 names... have you ever tried like to build your own affiliate page?

I dont make huge money and perhaps its my niche, Adult, but I make that and more with just one referral.

Point the names in question elsewhere, keep them in the sedo DB just switch nameservers. that way they should be happy you've done something about it. I guess one reason they are worried is some people would buy a name with X traffic according to Sedo and if it came out that Sedo had a suspicion it was bought wel lthen they would be in trouble.

Did you pick these up in a drop? it might be the previous owner still has a traffic swarm account or something and hasn't disabled it. If you can put them on your own DNS and see where the visitors are coming from.

I am really suprised at this, I myself was asked about this the other week. I told them that I knew nothing about such traffic, and they accepted it.

I truly was not aware of it, the previous owner of the domain parked it a fabulous.com and fabulous was still serving popups for that domain.

SEDO have been fair to me and I am confident if you explain it this matter will be resolved. SEDO has to protect its relationship with its Advertising Feed Providers.

Best of Luck,

150 domains ... $28/month ... umm, I agree with the other poster who mentioned that seems low - you may want to try DomainSponsor and/or some others, if you haven't already ...

Heck, with only $28 in revenue per month (or even double that), parking may not even be worth it - link the domains direct to a custom "for sale" page instead of Sedo at all ... you could easily make up the lost $28/month through commission savings from just one direct sale.

Sedo isn't the only game in town ... going to digress a bit ... note the past few DNJournal Sales Reports ... many other broker/parking services out there doing decent resale volume, including some exceeding Sedo many weeks.

what would be a normal amount for that amount of domains? the gentleman does not mention how much traffic he gets, or what type of domains he has, they could all be generic with minimal CPC.

I would be interested to know as I have thousands of domains spread over SEDO - FABULOUS - DOMAIN SPONSOR - TRAFFICZ and afterNIC and some on the new ENOM parking program now(which is CRAP). if i took 150 of my generic domains they have earned collectively about €30-€40 over each parking program.

150 domains = 2750 views = 255 clicks = $28 month

that's about average. i have never bought domains based on traffic or backlinks, i've always bought based on brandibility or domains i can see building a website on. the affiliate page or my own landing page is a good idea, i'm going to look into it. thanks for the feedback

That sounds totally resonable to me, I tend to purchase domains now on a speculative basis also, but I ended up with 4000+, while it would be great to develop them all, and no doubt fun.. I cant see that happening anytime soon.

Good luck with the affiliate option, I am confident SEDO will get better once it partners up with other Advertising providers. This will allow them to better support Adult and Casino related domains, but due to american restrictions on GOOGLE its not going to change soon.

A few of the Big Domain providers have announced that they are getting in to the parking game, this may be a good thing as competition is always good. However I think SEDO will still come out on top, they have a great team and good ethics.. they just got to get a little tougher on the Registrars moving in on their turf, take the Gloves off Guys...

Yes of course.. SEDO even provide you with the source code to do such a thing.

Text from SEDO site for demonstation purposes:

Link to your sales listing: We also recommend adding a link to your Sedo listing so that any visitors will know the page is for sale. You can use the following HTML code:

<A HREF="http://www.sedoparking.com/domain.co.uk" TARGET="_parent">The Domain domain.co.uk is for sale. For more information, please click here!</A>
