GoDaddy yanked a person's domain from resolving without any notice (per the account owner) for content on the domain that MySpace objected to. No court order - nada, just from a complaint.

This is a free speech issue and in my opinion shows just how anti-customer rights Godaddy is. See more on this NEWS.COM article about Godaddy's action concerning this one domain:

http://news.com.com/GoDaddy+pulls+s...laints/2100-1025_3-6153607.html?tag=nefd.lede

All GoDaddy customer should take this as a warning shot about how Bob Parson's company will apparently not be looking out for them and their interests, but rather bowing to companys' requests to deactivate or perhaps even delete domains. Your domains do not appear to be safe at GoDaddy...

I recommend switching any domains of value to another registrar that cares about your domain ownership rights ASAP (such as Moniker or other reliable registrars).

Anyone on this forum who is still registering at Godaddy deserves what they get.

Many Newbies think GoDaddy is great. I hear it all the time. Price..price..price, etc. They need to be informed of the truth about GoDaddy and their practices, through exposure of cases such as this about GoDaddy.

Not to infringe on your GoDaddy thread, but here is one if you are unfamiliar with the issue:

http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?p=1064895#post1064895

I received a call from Tim Ruiz, VP of GoDaddy. Very cordial, good conversation, but nevertheless, have lost all trust, faith and confidence in them.

They continue to claim a bug in the system. But three people have come forward and produced emails where they notified TDNAM in advance that they were selling domain names that were not expired and were registerd not to GoDaddy but to other registrars. Staff totally blew these people off and proceded to sell the domains as expired. This goes back to the beginning of December 2006 and continued on through 2007. Huge mess! Hundreds perhaps thousands of domains auctioned off and tens of thousands of dollars (perhaps hundreds of thousands) tied up.

The only bug in the system is the bug up someone's butt for not listening to customers.

Tonight, I received a $100.00 gift card from GoDaddy. I deleted it.

All my domains (about 3000) are in the process of being moved to Moniker. I will be glad to provide the contact details. Prices to reg are cheaper than GD and they offer a DNforum and NamePros discount. Contact Lee Odom at [email protected] or any of the folks at Moniker.

ICANN needs to get on the ball and grow some balls and start monitoring some of these registrars. They are out of control. It's a damn shame people like us on this forum have to police the domain industry and look out for one another. That is not our job. That is not why we pay ICANN fees.

Moniker.com or Dynadot.com seem to be among the best reviewed registrar I have seen. I use Moniker now, and don't regret using them one bit.

Here is a link to the official statement from the web site owner who had his site shut down by GoDaddy.com with a full description of the events surrounding this "domain takedown" by GoDaddy. It is awful what Godaddy did in my opinion.

Read this:

Thanks for the post and the link, Woeger. I read the article and also emailed the founder of the site and shared a link to your post to let him know how the domainers feel about his issue and the stunts GoDaddy is pulling lately.

I recommend Dynadot.com. Once you use them you will never go to someone else.

one of my names are at WIPO.int and are on trial. Godaddy pulled it from me and charged me $20 for.......what!? blocking me!? Even without a warning. Not only that, but im sick and tired of:

"im going to send you out a customer servey."

what!? You are telling me what!? Dont tell me what to do! im a customer. or used to be... i think that we have better things to do rather than filling out surveys to improve their job.

Anyways, back to the topic...
what godaddy did was so evil. treating their customers like "things" and doing what they think. possibly looking down on us. I dont know what kind of training they get, but its gotta stop.
