Just want to say that the site seems a little slow most of the time..... It's really the only bad thing about visiting here as it seems like it's on my mind each time I come in...

I think it could be faster despite the size of the community....

Don't take it as a complaint, just a suggestion so you know what the members are thinking....

I don't know who you're replying to, since I posted in this thread on 11/30/07 (with no response), but I, as well, am using cable connection.

This site is slow, SLOW, SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

It's been like this for a while now.

For some reason, my latest version of Kaspersky AV slows things down to a crawl on this site. No other site is affected. Strange.

What browser are you trying to load with? Try firefox and ie and let me know you still have the same outcome.

Thank you

Hi,

I isolated the problem to Kaspersky Proactive Defense.

This is the crazy part. When I disable the Proactive Defense function within KAV, the slow behavior remains the same. However, when I completely disable all protection, and start up the File, Mail, Web protections, one by one, the behavior is good and performance is normal. When I then turn on Proactive, performance crawls again. When I again turn off Proactive, performance still crawls. In order to get acceptable performance, I have to completely shut down all protection again, and start up File, Mail, Web one by one. Crazy! :)

I have reported this odd behavior to Kaspersky.

Is the Kaspersky Proactive Defense a common variable for everyone having issues with the site speed?

Ya but DNF and NP both run on VB so whats so special in DNF that makes Kaspersky hate DNF

Instructions:
=======
To all those who are having issues with loading specific websites and where unticking port80 helps with loading it, try to add it to TrustedZone...click v6...Settings>TrustedZone>TrustedApplications
v7...Settings>Threats&Exclusions>TrustedZone>TrustedApplications
...click Add, browse for the web-browser you use, tick only the "do not scan network traffic" box.
...click the blue "any" on the row which says "at any remote host".
...click "specify" and add the IP address of the site you are having problems with.

To find the IP address of the site you are having issues with, click Start>run... type in cmd... a black box should open up. in there, type in ping [website which does not work]. The IP address of the site is the long set of numbers with 4 decimal points between them.
=========
I did this and seems a bit faster - time will tell....
