Don't most Mercedes have the Air conditioning components UNDER the car? When it goes out or needs servicing, you pay up the *SS. They also have problems with the interior deteriorating faster than most cars, Don't get me wrong, I like German engineering, just NOT Mercedes.

Maybe the new ones...but not the old ones..they are built like tanks..sherman tanks!

They are all expensive.

All cars that get driven are a depreciating asset and are going to cost you money for service, gas, & repairs. People with negative outlooks on this matter should probably ride bicycles!

BMW x5 ,BMW z4

Love the X5...very nice

And they feel like Tanks, I would choose a Lexus over a Mercedes in a heartbeat, Comfort level, Handling and reliability far out weigh any Mercedes I've driven.

When you buy a car, any car, are you buying the name or how well it's built?

Dude, you are crazy...not only is my SL500 smooth as glass on the road but it can take sharp turns at like 80 mph without body roll, fully accelerate in the rain without tire spin, reach top speeds over 160 mph, fully built in roll cage/roll bar AND it's convertible, one of the safest in the entire world actually..not to mention the real wood trim and soft supple german leather, and you mention reliability? lmao, the 5.0L 32 valve V8 is known to go 200-300k miles without any major rebuild and is a nearly bullerproof engine..it just keeps going just like your toyotas do, but with ALOT more horsepower and torque..now granted it's no rice burner and it drinks gas like my ex g/f drank man milk :pound: but I'd take a Mercedes SL series from the late 90's or early 2000's over ANY lexus/toyota rice burner!

When you get broad-sided in the intersection by some drunk maniac who runs the red light would you rather be in a big heavy german built mercedes or a tin can toyota? yeah, thought so!

I dont own any foreign cars, the ones I've driven were lent to me by my company, When I travel abroad, my rental is usually a Mercedes, I've driven many and I'm just NOT impressed with them. I am impressed with Lexus as well as Infiniti.

As for the crash test, I would rather be in my Chevy crew cab dually, 6 years ago I was rear ended on the 91 Freeway by a guy going 70 + MPH in a BMW, amazingly he lived which says a lot about the car, I respect German engineering so try not to take it personal.

Ok, well I can definitely agree on that one & for the record.....I am a 99% GM man ;)

The current 1% is my SL500

I have always been, and will always be a Chevy Monte Carlo fan (87-88' G body LS & SS)

I literally have owned 10 of them and still have 2 now...lol

They are simply awesome cars...in fact, I have pondered a Chevy bowtie tatoo for years now!

Word. :peace:
