I believe Sosa as well, however am interested in who actually injected the liquid cork in the bat. I wonder if he did it himself?

He said he uses it for batting practice before the game to give fans the WOW they want. I doubt he did it but probably any bat company could cork it for him.

I just wonder how many times he "took the wrong bat" before.... :)

This is a piece of an article from: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune...olumn,1,5517979.column?coll=cs-cubs-headlines

You can read the rest of the article there if you'd like :)

Yet some question whether cork really does make the ball jump off the bat.

"What it does is reduce weight, which produces quicker bat speeds," Chuck Schupp, an executive with Louisville Slugger, once said. "But it also reduces mass, so the bat doesn't drive the ball as far."

Yale physics professor Robert Adair agreed.

"A corked bat will increase bat speed but won't hit the ball as far," he said. "You also reduce the length of the sweet spot. How far you hit a ball depends on mass. … At a given speed, a light bat won't hit a ball as far as a heavy one."

as a baseball fan I am shocked, but this thing will die down, it always does, Sosa will be suspended for 8 games or so, he will come back, hit a few bombs and MOST of this will be forgotten

76 bats siezed right after the incident, 76 bats clean. I believe Sosa, this was a WOW bat, used only for batting practice homeruns.

I bought it, and so do all Sosa fans. Slumps are natural, happen to everyone every year. There is no reason for someone with 505 homeruns to need to use a corked bat in a live game, ever.

Remember he was on the 15 day disabled list. Anyone would be rusty for a little bit.
