As a follow-up to my earlier post -- my Google 1099 arrived in today's mail. Very timely.

If you are a sole proprietor LLC you do not need an EIN. But as HardwareGeek said, it is nice to use it for business dealings. I do exactly that - my Social Security number is used for most of my transactions, but I use my EIN when trying to "influence" a new company.

Sedo sent out an email to anyone who qualifies for a 1099 - requesting additional info. Anyone received that email?

sedo needs to install a section in users accounts where they can enter their SS#'s or tax ids.

got an email today from them with attached pdf file, which i cannot open.

We sent out a data request to any LLC customers who earned over $600, where data was missing for completion of the 1099.
A copy of that data request is included below.

"Our records show that we do not have sufficient information to send you the
IRS 1099 form for 2004. The 1099 is required by the IRS for our customers
who earned more than $600 in Domain Parking revenue in 2004.

In order to file the 1099 form we need you to complete the W9 which
provides us with the information needed for your 1099.
The W9 form is attached to this email and can be completed

Please fill out the form and email, fax or mail it back to us as soon as
possible."

Companies only have to send 1099s to non-employees they pay $600 or more a year. BTW, getting an EIN is a good idea but keep in mind it usually takes a couple weeks.

I received my EIN right over the phone a few years ago. He asked me some questions and told me my number. I received a confirmation letter a few weeks later but was given and was able to use my EIN immediately.
