Nice resume builder! And by reading your post sale breakdown, impressed by your business logic. Congrats on the sale.

Hey Yoon, that's a home-run to me!

Let me know if you have any other boards to sell. :)

There was a thread not long ago, where someone asked whether or not sub 18yos should be allowed to buy and sell on this forum. I was one of the ones who said yes they should, and here is the proof that if you're good enough, you're old enough!

Congrats man!
Are you invest the money of the sale in domain names?

Well Yoon, you did a great job on the sale. What is crazy about it is that you had 62,000 users but only 250,000 posts. Was there an insentive to signup? That seemed just what most users did was just to signup allowing to get something, like hacks? Just curious is all.

Once again, congrats on the great sale!! Remember to claim the $62k on your taxes ;)

Makes me feel better about owning several forums with more posts/members then zuneboards.com and what I can get for them in the future. (not selling now :p )

Thank you! When we first launched, we required registration for hacks, which were a huge hit (was featured numerous times on megablogs like engadget and gizmodo). In those days registration jumped up fairly quickly, climbing thousands in days. Nowadays, we have a more 'open' mentality. We require no registration to read or download any content on the site. Still, registration is climbing, and only several months after the sale, we are now at 70,000 members, and 300,000 posts. Also, a lot of the registered members come to post a question or two, get them answered, and lurk back into the dark.

Taxes, ah yes. Got that taken care of already--luckily my dad's friend is a CPA.

Hey Yoon, that's a home-run to me!

Let me know if you have any other boards to sell. :)

Right now I have no high-traffic sites, but I am still making good money with affiliate marketing. I have a few startup ideas set in place with my partner, and we are ready to start the development. Hopefully in a few years, you will read about me again.

Congrats man!
Are you invest the money of the sale in domain names?

I invested in a lot of domains a few years back, but I was turned away after seeing little success. Right now I'm focusing most of my time on school, and some startups. I don't plan on going back into the domain industry any time soon, but who knows?

Oh, and thank you to all for the nice compliments!

I have a similar subject forum with 11k members and less than 1 year old - I can see why they paid that much quite readily

no problems with TM's and forums and discussion boards - they are almost always exempt!

If fact, may times the TM holder will support or do exclusive sponsorship with the forum or board if they reach large numbers - a "video game" inspired board we recently did for a DNF member has since recieved an exclusive sponsorship deal with the game make activision/red octane.

Just FYI, in the article it says the buyer negotiated with the seller's parents, because a person under the age of 18 can't enter into a contract. How many people under the age of 18 on the forums get their parents involved in deals they are doing? I'm guessing none.

Anyway, congrats on the sale!

Just curious, what forum was that? If you don't want to post it, pm me it.

I wonder if Microsoft would get involved since the domain name had Zune in it.
