an ever increasing police state...it never ends...pretty soon you won't be able to wipe your a$$ without paying taxes on the crap you flush down the toilet. :(

Well, technically, we do pay for that already... it's called a water/sewer bill. Check the invoice on the bill and you will see taxes alotted within your total bill... some water companies dont include the information, but they do in fact have to pay fees/taxes on their services. Most of the time they simply include them, but others will actually show you a breakdown of it on your invoice.

In regards to the reason for this gaming law taking effect. Yes, I do believe it has a LOT to do with taxes. However, there has been fierce lobbying by physical domestic casinos/gaming/gambling organizations. Not to mention that Las Vegas, a tourist capital, is feeling the effects of the online craze and its hurting their bottom line.

Personally, I think its a good thing... If you really want to gamble, just drive a little ways down and play at a casino.

There is too much debt in the United States right now and gambling on offshore company websites is not making it any better. There is little/no regulation on their gaming practices. Do you feel comfortable losing 10 grand playing blackjack online when you couldnt see the decks, etc...?

Anyway, I just thought I would present these different views for you all to ponder.

Why would anyone need to be hopeful?
The value of any domain related to gambling is already greatly diminished.

(Corrected) Half of all gambling revenue in the world comes from the United States of America.

If most of that revenue is taken off the plate, guess what happens to the gambling industry? Sure it will branch out in other ways to try and compensate, but it will still only be a sliver of its former self.

There was an interesting article on bloomberg about this they claimed 50% of all online gambling revenue comes from the US , the outlook for online gambling companies indeed does look very bleak
