In Canada we don't carry guns we throw snowballs. ;)

-=DCG=-
With rocks in them for the bullies...you know you've done it as a kid. Fess up ;)

I am not in need of a gun. I do however have a paintball gun for those pesky raccoons that try to get into our trash.
Yeah, but is it an Airsoft? :laser:

Does it pack the pressure of a fire engines water cannon?

I live in a peaceful neighbourhood :)
I do also. But beyond that peaceful country setting I call home and my neighbors that I can rely on, it is different. Very different. Carry? I have a rifle in the truck just because it's the redneck thing to do.

I travel the Interstates to and from work that are known to have gangs, thugs, thieves and drive-bys simply because that is the culture, the society, and the times we live in. Road rage, assholes, and just plain wacko nut jobs. Perhaps a Google search of Interstate 40 and 77 in the US will reveal the statistics of the reality. Personally, I have not checked. Don't need to. Local and national news tell me everything I need to know. Those are the roads I travel.

A rifle (unloaded) showing on the rack is a great deterrent, in my opinion. Would I ever use it? I've got 4 clips loaded and I would use it in a heartbeat for defensive purposes.

In the car, I do have an equalizer.

Yes, America is gun culture and gun crazy. Guns, guns, guns. Get the guns out of the criminals' hands and we live in bliss. That is not going to happen.

My point as stated previously is...I would rather have one and not need it instead of needing it and not having it.

My wife does not like guns. But there is a side-by-side 12 gauge on her side of the bed. Sometimes, like last night, I work 12 hour night shifts. I would like to think that my neighborhood will stay peaceful. We live on 6.5 acres in an 1840-1850 farmhouse that I am restoring. We have had creeps show up in the middle of the night or morning.

But I live in the real world and reality tells me that there are too many out there in the real world who have no respect for other people and their rights and property. Yes, you can thank the drug culture for driving their desire to steal anything they can get their hands on. Want to steal my car or my lawn mower? Have at it. They are insured. Not worth anyone's life.

Want to break into my house? Have at it. Then the four dogs will have at it. And if you survive the dogs, you have the owner to deal with.

My wife? A peace loving dedicated medical professional who has dedicated the past 25 years to helping others. But one night a co-worker and I was at work when he got the call from his fiance's sister that his fiance was in another hospital after a germ of a person broke into her house and hid until she got home and raped and beat her with a pistol for 6 hours.

After I broke the news to my wife, who had never ever fired a gun in her life, she looked at me and said, "If someone tries to break in here and hurt my dogs or me, I will shoot the hell of them".

There's the real world I live in.

My buddy's finance made a full recovery. Their Christian faith and support for each other and support of family and close friends (this was never made too public) made them grow stronger and were married this past Valentine's day.

That's the other real world I live in.
