A question that many people ask, domain name prices are subjective as no two names are the same.

When getting an unsolicited offer via email, there is only one way to respond to lowball offers.

"If you owned this domain, and I approached you to buy it would you accept $50"

Honestly, I have never had a yes answer.

By asking this question you do create a sense of value, as the potential buyer start to consider what it is worth to them.

Give it a try and see if it works out.

good I will try it on sellers who asks thousands of dollars for so and so names

"Money wise , if you are the buyer and have enough money, would you pay that price for that domain taking into consideration the shameful revenue it makes from parking" :D

Lowball offers vary in magnitude. The worst ones question your selling price using a variety of "arguments". I tell them to go register whatever other TLD is not taken and good luck while I reap the traffic benefits of their $10 investment.

What about when you get an end user low offer, say 300 or so for a dotcom domain that should sell for at least 3000 and you counter with 2700. The potential buyer then gives you the silent treatment...that is they don't respond at all. What do you do then? How is the best way to get the offer/counter offer process working?

If they won't pay for the domain, someone else will. Let them know they aren't the only single girl in the hood.

I have many end users started with low offers and I ended up sell the names to them with the prices I wanted.
Most end users do not know the pricing so they just pull out the number from the hat. Be patient/polite/professional and you may get a sale.
It costs nothing to be nice.

My favorite line is....

"I suggest you pick another domain for your business, this domain is too expensive for you"

That usually makes them want it more.

@Johnn I have to agree with you. I've read many posts where domainers like to blow off lowballers or be rude to them and respond nastily.

Sure some may be domainers looking for a steal, but if you can determine that it is an enduser, being rude will not result in a sale.

It costs nothing to be kind and polite. . . and like you said it can turn into a sale!

@DCG that is an interesting line. Good old reverse psychology.
