As for .XXX give it time.
The TLD just launched a few weeks ago draw conclusions after a year maybe.
Right. Try every new TLD and lose money. How many have you tried yet ?

New TLDs have all failed for a reason (with one or two exceptions maybe but there isn't much money to be made in .biz or .info).
Domainers will continue to lose money until they get this.

Domaining is no rocket science, you just have to understand the dynamics at play. Sort the actual trends from the hype.

The domainers below are not fools and obviously have some long term vision

Will Rick Schwartz
Frank Schilling
Flowers.mobi anyone ? Think the King never gambled and lost ? So much for domain insight.
What about Frank ? If somebody ever makes money out of .xxx he will be among the very few winners. Like Mike Mann with .co.

If you think you are going to do well in .xxx just because Frank is involved in .xxx - then you're following the herd. For a start, not one single domainer owns a portfolio of .xxx domains that could compare with Frank's.
Domainwise, Frank lives in a different world than you and I. Don't ever think you can crawl your way to the VIP table.
Domainers were not invited to the insider club.
.xxx is a mirage to lure gullible domainers, just like its siblings .co .tel .mobi .etc.
The domainers are the only ones who take all these extensions seriously. The end users don't care. They see new extensions as a nuisance when they are compelled to do defensive registrations.

End Users don't care? how do you know after a few weeks, wait did TV or the media tell you so or you have some concrete evidence to support this claim? how do you define a successful TLD in your opinion? how can you ever claim a TLD is a success or failure in a few weeks? yes the big shot domainers have lost money in the past so what? In business sometimes you lose even banks go down. You don't think I am going to do well in .XXX and how do you know this? you can see through the future can you? perhaps you are far more clever than Frank and Will and made millions on domains. I am not following anyone but I did rather lose a few couple of dollars than allow a potential opportunity pass by. Give it time!

What do I know ? The end users are already speaking out. Can you hear them ?
I see you have an interest in .gs and .bz domains. They are new too. Give it some time. You never know.
But good luck in your endeavors.

Yes! I do have an interest in anything that can make money. I only currently own 1 bz domain everything I had sold surprised?. I do not currently own any gs names all sold for profit so not sure what your point is? .Com's are not the only suffix to make money from. The end user's are speaking out? Yes of course they will. change during these hard times are hard to swallow and also domainers should they decide to develop are also end users. The public are ultimately the most important factor. I am not so arrogant to say I know what will happen in the future though. It is my opinion that time will tell. But if you know for certain it will be a complete failure I will like to take a look into your crystal ball and invest in some better ventures or perhaps you can get next week's lottery numbers spot on so I can retire early.

Don't see where I'm not. But attack a strawman with a horseshit argument because you can't beat mine on it's own merit.
Dude, did you see where others were allowed to have an opinion counter to yours?

I didn't.

You chastise others for getting into .xxx yet when some talk about IDN's and their dislike, OH HELL NO!

A graph...a graph of one IDN vs a name just sold. Yes, that is solid evidence.

Very well said. That graph was pointless.

In defense of IDN, I have several (not a huge lot) that do very well parking. Mostly Portuguese, Spanish, and some Chinese.

And I have several .mobi parked and sites that still do very well.

I am not into everything new and shiney. But I do believe in giving something a go. Risk is low, rewards are high.

I have a grand total of three .xxx. I am not worried about their success or their failure. I simply am not worried about them at all.

Yes it's true. The Internet has structured itself on a .com/ccTLD axis for the most part.
The naysayers have been more often right than wrong. Ignoring them is your prerogative but wishful thinking doesn't produce sales.

Where are the end users for all those third-tier .xxx domains held by domainers, when the adult industry is reluctant to purchase .com domains on the aftermarket. I'm curious.

Barely a couple weeks opened to all and everyone wants to see immediate, gratifying results??? I don't understand that line of thinking.

Skeptics are going to remain skeptics no matter what is presented.

Seems to be very akin to the political parties.

Gerry, the end users had ample opportunity to buy domains for regfee. The domains that were available to register (and bought by domainers), had no interested end users.
There will be no secondary market if there is no primary market.

That's absolute nonsense. You could have said that for every TLD ever Launched.

B.s. Those complaining about new domains are in fear if losing traffic and fear change. Porn industry owners want money. They will bend eventually. Though .xxx will not make much traffic or money as much as a .com, some money will come. My advice for those who fully support .xxx is to stop replying to .xxx posts as it will get nowhere. Work on your .xxx and let the old men and those who didn't get any nice .xxx complain about the change.

I understand your point. Perhaps that market does not exist, yet.

You can say that about every end user and every extension; the end user had ample opportunity to buy domains at reg fee.

Meanwhile, new startups, entrepreneurs, and so on come along and want a name that is already taken. Thus, the entire premise of existence of the domain name aftermarket.

The story has been the same for every new tld rollout. Hype is created by the registry by making deals with big name domainers and big name sales. The aftermarket gets a false boom, names are sold to other resellers and eventually the hype dies down, nothing comes of the new tld and resellers end up holding the bag and taking big losses. There were a few domainers who sunk xxx, xxx and xx, xxx into mobi only to have the registry sold and left to die. dot xxx at least has some better promotion but instead of constantly defending your investment you should be critical of your investment, be skeptical, etc. There are no sure things and seeing as every new tld has been a flop, don't expect this one to be the stand out.

Except for a small number of prime .xxx keyword names such as owned by Frank S. I predict the .xxx extension will be a major failure overall similar to .mobi and others. This is also my view with .co where the only person getting rich from .co is Mike Mann and the vast majority of .co will never sell and evetually drop (excluding defensive registrations).

.xxx was never intended to be a solution (as in all current and future porn sites MUST use .xxx).

It does represent an opportunity.

Any investment should proceed with caution - period. Do the benefits outweigh the risk? Is it a high risk or low risk investment? Is it a high risk or low risk payoff?

Reconcile those questions to your self.

If people don't see it, then don't jump into it.

If people see no opportunity in the extension, then fine.

It is domaining. It is not rocket science but it needs to be approached as any other investment opportunity.

Its like .cm - Sorry, I got none. Don't plan on it. Domainers run the registry??? WTF? Yeah, how far is that going to go? How many here (many, in fact) bought into .cm and paid for those auction non-performers?

And .co - contrary to what has been reported here, Overstock.com has not dropped O.co. It has, in fact, continued to promote this as the Overstock internet shortcut. On television.

Just your opinion. You have no facts to support your claim. You merely choose the negativities of .xxx to gain support.
Those posting against .xxx; place your favorite domain and we will insult your domain name. I'll only find the negatives of your investment and ignore the positives.

Don't know who you are talking to but... I personally don't see the upside in this extension.

Here's the trick: .xxx is unproven. As of today it does not qualify as 'investment'. It's speculation.
IMO.

Everything is unproven. Even .com. So much nitpicking here. I don't agree with moving all .Coms to .xxx but I "invested" a little. It's no ones business on my investments. I did not post my .xxx here so no one knows how much I'll make.

There aren't any. Even Hustler came out yesterday and said they would not participate in .xxx.

The only list I've seen was the one you listed and those sites even in non-.xxx hardly rank for crap. I have sites that rank much higher than all of his and I'm not pretending to be a "major" porn player. Hell, I even have some adult keywords just parked ranking higher than his sites. lol.

Nobody who is anybody wants this. Except for ICM and a few domainers blindly hoping to make millions.

So you have a vested interest in the success or failure of .xxx

Are you pissed because you felt you had to defensively register, or are you worried because you didn't?
