We received a C&D on a name that is a misspelling of a generic term. The generic term also has a website on it (think of something like drugstre.com).
The C&D was sent by a company named TMSecure (see TMSecure.net). TMSecure's website looks legit at first blush, but there were several things that suggest otherwise:
- Their banner is copied from here:
http://www.cscprotectsbrands.com/
- Their rotating client list is copied from here:
http://www.citizenhawk.com
- Their TradeMark Insight logo was copied from here:
http://www.adgooroo.com
- Their domain was registered on Dec 8.
- Their email originated from a comcast.net IP in PA, while the company is HQ'd in FL. The lawyer that supposedly signed the email is based in Vancouver at a different firm and doesn't focus on anything related to TMs.
Has anyone else seen anything similar? Would you agree that I'm pretty safe ignoring this (I'm pretty comfortable that I'd win legal proceedings, but I don't want to disadvantage those by making an early mistake)?
