Geez, it took you three days to come up with that?
Your assessment of how it works is technologically flawed. It serves no purpose for me to look on my smartphone and go to a site like DNForum.com and try to see what the hell is going on. It will NOT be the same address. If I go to domain.com and there is a link to "see our mobile" it does not to to the same site. Why for God's sake would there be a link if it was the same site.
And as for auto-detecting, thanks to whomever, as much as I love my Helio Ocean it always says "This Site has been Formatted to Fit your Screen" absolutely sucks! Where have I seen that before. Oh yeah, on DVD's. It ain't the big screen so why you looking for the big screen effect. It is not here.
How does that apply to .mobi? My cell phone is not the big screen so why try to fit the big screen look and feel into it. I don't want it, I don't care for it, I don't like having to scroll endlessly trying to find what I am looking for, and it consumes WAY too much time.
That, I believe, is not the premise behind the mobile internet. Mor behind .mobi.
But take us, domainers, out of the picture. You are trying to sell me on a concept of user experience and usability. I have a $295.00 phone. Why do I want the speed of dial up? Even on a 3g network, compared to .mobi that is what I am experiencing. I logged on to SportsTap.mobi today while at the auto repair place. First time ever. Perhaps 2 seconds to load. Totally, 100%! And easy to use. And easy to navigate.
Where did I hear about SportsTap.mobi? On that site I mentioned that Apple has for iPhone apps. Oddly enough, it is one of the top 10 downloads for the iPhone. So, why not just stick with espn.com, or cbssports.com, I guess you would have to ask.
Seems like I am not the only one that wants a little speed and responsiveness. Lets see: iPhone $400-$600 pre rebate, up to $200.00 per month plan, Edge Network and wi-fi that changes signals as you walk along. Yup, I'd be damn pissed to. Seems like we have a need for speed.
Perhaps that is why it took you three days to respond. Three days of scrolling and recharging those batteries, poker?
By the way, don't take anything personal. I don't...well, not always.
