Monte,

You are a good man for hanging in there under fire. Just remember, the pioneers take the arrows.

With that said, I have submitted a long list of decent domains with reasonable starting bids and no reserves for the auction. Auctions are auctions, some lots will fall flat and some will take off. As long as a seller gets a big enough check, s/he should not complain. Since attendees/bidders have to pay about $2k just to be able to bid, I am confident that my check will be big enough :)

With that said, I vote that the auction continue to be exclusive...for the Players and not the haters.

See you at TRAFFIC...my first time...finally!

Monte,

I hope your ass is teflon coated, otherwise removing rsequin's lips from it may prove difficult.

Thank you think!

Wish I could attend. Could be the highlight of the week? Or, people just go for the food?

I am curious who will attend. I hoping more business buyers than domaineers.

I will keep you posted.

I think the complete list is not available to the public yet. The primary domain lists that was provided to you by "Think" is through email that was sent to conference attendee.

According to the last email update, they still accepting domains for auction 'till 6 pm ET tonight. Next update will be available to Traffic Attendees.

If you would like to send your domain for auction, send it to [email protected] address.

Hope this help.

Some things strike me funny about this Auction forthcoming in Florida....

1 - The list. Not published to the public, but only attendees... seems like Moniker is hurting their own success but holding a "secret" auction. Unless I'm missing something, Moniker is inviting many companies and individuals outside of the domain industry... Wouldn't it show better to these "industry professionals" to see the domains widely marketed and eagerly anticipated? These guys don't get energized byt "traffic" but by BUZZ.

2 - The "list" that will actually be auctioned is being formed by the bidders themselves. In other words, Moniker is submitting the list to the attendees who will then be buying the domains. Hmmmm.... doesn't that seem rather odd? Kind of anti-auction?

People going to the auction don't want to, I think, draw attention to the domains they think are valuable for fear they will prove value to others who will then compete with them for the purchase.

Yet, Moniker says, here's a list of domains... YOU TELL US what you want to buy and we'll auction it off to you.

3 - Do attendees KNOW that they are supposed to give this away? Do the "Madison Avenue Executives" realize this? What message will this send to them, a "fixed" auction or a true auction, emotionally driven and pationately charged?

4 - Sellers are going to be SURPRISED to learn their domain was even presented and possibly sold? Why shouldn't the list be provided to SELLERS?

Anyway, just some questions... Hoping for good things.

GoPC - This is not a public auction...never was. It is for the attendees of the TRAFFIC conference. You can go to www.targetedtraffic.com and attend if you want to bid, view, the domains. It is not secret as the whole world knows about it.

It is by invitation and yes we are marketing to sellers from all industries..who would be invited to attend the conference to buy the domains.

You do not seem to get it. The auction is a real sanctioned auction run by a licensed auctioneer to an audience of 700+ people that chose to be at the event by applying and paying for a conference along with their peers.

This is an exclusive invitation only event. There will be 7K or so names available for sale in the silent and live event out of 40K names submitted.

If you want to learn about the event, go to: http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/auction/auction_faq.html where the FAQs have been posted.

You do not seem to get it....

I totally get it... I was just asking WHY? AS in, what the process was to reach this conclusion. Why you are not marketing some of the more prominent domains sooner in order to get more interest and therefore more attendees (ie more entry fees) to not only provide an increased bidding pool but to more easily cover what has to be a tremendous expense in setting up and managing the event.

My point is simply that the more marketing you do, the more people might have attended and the more money Moniker would make.

There is no challenge to the legitimacy of the Auction, the Auctioneer or the value of the domains being auctions... just a question on strategy.

You've been attacked alot in this thread... PLEASE do not treat me as if I'm attacking you as well.

I structured my questions very carefully to allow you to both answer the query AND provide an ample opportunity for self promotion.

I sent my list last week but haven't heard anything.
When are you going to let me know if my domain(s) listed or not?

Thanks

Monte,

I just got email from moniker with agreement form and I am getting nervous.

1. You never let me know which name will be listed for auction. I sent my entire portfolio and of course, I don't expect all of them to be listed. You have only a week and I think I have the right to know which domain of mine will be listed or not.

2. For God's sake why do yopu need 180 days exclusive rights? If you let me know the exact name to be listed, I will consider but you are asking exclusive right for all domains I've submited.

Why did you send your entire portfolio?
If I was moniker I wouldn't bother checking it all just to find a few good names.
I only send 10 domains. About 2 of each tld.
If everybody send their portfolio, moniker would end up being sedo...
