There was a name that dropped last month and I had some interest in picking it up. I went to Trellian . com and completed a search to see how popular the keywords were. Long story short...I decided not to pick up this name.

Soooo tonight I checked who owned this dropped name and guess who it was...Trellian . com. I couldn't believe it! :upset:

Whois shows:

Administrative Contact:
____________ @ trellian .com

Has anyone experienced the same with this company??

Is this considered stealing keywords??

Read the TOS of many of those domain/ keyword/ whois/ research sites. Most retain all rights regarding searches on their sites. It ain't stealing --because they own the data!

It's why I guard my data and why I only search domains at Moniker.

Have fun sueing Trellian, they are located in Australia.

I'm not upset about them taking the name...it is a worthless name. I was just suprised to see the name registered through them and wanted to know if anyone else experienced the same.

I would say it was just by chance. They are registering/tasting every drop they can get hands on.

I too like Moniker.com but don't forget they were just bought out so hopefully nothing changes but that is doubtful.

Not completely useless, don't forget about Trillian, it could be a typo or misspelling.

(Trillian - the web chat client that handles mIRC, AOLIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo...)
