WTF is going on???

Another Grenade Found At Local Goodwill
Grenade Found In Donated Items Earlier This Week

WINSTON-SALEM -- A customer at the Goodwill store on Peters Creek Parkway tried to purchase a grenade found on a shelf Wednesday morning, prompting the evacuation of the store while bomb squad members removed it, Winston-Salem police said.

Police said Goodwill officials didn't know if the item had been donated. A clerk at the store was concerned by the appearance of the grenade and called police.

Bomb squad members are working to determine if the grenade contained explosives.

A training grenade was discovered Monday in some clothing donated to a Goodwill location in Madison.

"Military ordnance of any kind should not be donated to charity stores," a news release from Winston-Salem police read. "Members of the public that locate military ordnance or need ordnance or ammunition destroyed should contact their local law enforcement agency. Any suspected military ordnance should not be handled."

I used to buy training grenades from the Army surplus store when I lived in Texas. A little modeler's clay and a nice paint job and they are great gifts!

They used to provide a fun way to clear everyone out at the end of a party too, but post 9/11 probably not wise

Unless they have been filled and painted, it is pretty easy to tell the "training grenades" since they have a giant hole drilled in them and are either sandblasted to bare metal or painted blue.

Lol, reminds me of when I use to live on the beach. One day some guy is walking the beach with his metal detector, gets to what he thinks is a great find and turns out its two grenades and a fire arm. The beach was packed with kids and families enjoying the day, only for the bomb squad and every other police officer in the city to close off the beach and surround it for about 6-7 hours.

People do stupid things and I don't think I will ever understand it.
