Hi there,

I am interested in typo domains...

Are they worth much money?
How do you decide what is a "good typo"?
How much traffic should a site get before its worth making a typo domain of it?
Do they get much traffic? Is there an average %?

Sorry for asking so many questions, i am just interested :-D

typos are just really guesses, you never know how good it is until you see traffic, then if you get traffic it depends if its a high payout word or not. I found a typo that is a generic word that is used in a lot of domains, in some cases the typo is typed more then the actual spelling. My tip is try to find one typo which is used alot then look for domains with this word.

Just to give you an idea, Voyuer.com sold for $113,000 and is a misspelling or the word VOYEUR. Somewhat different then a typo but it gives you an idea.

I own a misspelling of a major bookseller. The correct domain name gets 75,631 on Overture w/Ext. My misspelling gets on average 18 per day. I was wondering if one could use this Overture data to gauge the traffic of domains one is interested in?

I just purchased (today) another misspelling of a site which receives 29,657 w/ext. Using my other domain name, overture data, and some simple math. I'm estimating roughly 8 type-ins per day. I'll soon find out if this is accurate and let you know. :)

There is no way to guage how much traffic a typo will get , I have a typo that has ovt. w/ext 935 itself as a typo , the correct has ovt w/ext 30,000 , but this one gets slightly less traffic then a domain I have with ext. 205. The only thing for sure most of the time is that if a domain has ovt with extension then some sort of traffic is likely. Typos that have no ovt with ext. are risky to register.
