We domainers have millions of domains at least ,right?
We webmasters have million of websites at least right?

If we stop cooperation with Google right away, what will happen?

Why not we unite to build another Business miracle by ourselves?

We can have one group and company together to show our power!

We can directly advertise via our own system and get paid without sharing with google!

Is this anoucement crazy?

I think so.

There would be a big expense in doing this, you have to have personnel on the payroll, as well as office space, Add dollars etc. The only way it could succeed in my opinion short of an investor willing to take a chance with 20 or 30 million, is for all parking companies to unite and offer this service, which i dont see happening unless google decides to pay pennies out for traffic then domainers and parking companies would have nothing to lose and like a dog back into a corner decide to fight back.

dnol is not TOTALLY crazy!
Since there is tons of money in this biz there will be other players.
Eventually, the governments may decide to regulate it.
With the new administration it may happen faster then you think

It is not domainers that make the world go round.

It is not domainers that make or break google's bottom line.

Seriously, the amount of domainers vs. the actual numbers of everyday folks who use google is not even a ripple. The amount of parked sites is not a ripple.

Results 1 - 10 of about 12,310,000,000 for site:.com.
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,620,000,000 for site:.net.
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,840,000,000 for site:.org
Results 1 - 10 of about 260,000,000 for site:.edu

These are perhaps the most commonly requested extensions in the US. That's about 16 billion sites right there.

Do you honestly think domainers control the internet?

Nope.

Domainers and website owners are all competing in this business. Many domainers and website owners depend on Google as a service to connect to their visitors and sell a product or service. Most of these people would not want to change the way they do business.

Dude, as you know..QUALITY over quantity...compare the high traffic domains and the thus the valuable traffic & clicks domainers control compared to 90% of those barely any traffic websites lol

We have the traffic, we have the power...I know I do.

Why don't you take the 2nd step? 10,000 domain portfolio owners won't jump on your idea (though a worthy one) at once. 2 billion people on the planet did not start using Google at once. It took Google 10 years to be where it is today.

You won't win with Google. But you can make a point and be profitable as well. Your announcement is only crazy if nothing is done about it.

I'd rather have domain owners unite and start their own parking company than take Google on. Don't try to take Satan out of the equation. Paradise won't be the same without him!

Si, senor gato.

But I am having a difficult time comprehending why the cry to defeat google in terms of reach and scope.

I did not even go into google.de, jp, cn, and .es, all of which are extremely viable ccTLD's.

As for being our own search engine?

Own parking company? Perhaps - but this has been thrown around on the forum for years.

I personally dislike Google because:

I can't stand Wikipedia, if Google were a ship, they'd be the slimly barnacles. Wikipedia has outranked me for my own content on numerous occasions, and sending them cease and desist letters is getting old. Like mildew and a wet shoe, they go where Google goes.

I can't stand Google's lack of transparency with AdSense, which as we know set a precedent for the entire PPC industry, obviously domain parking included. Sedo can pay squat without rhyme or reason, because Google can too.

Click Fraud, anyone tried advertising through AdWords recently? Three words... "government oversight please".

Google Search used to provide decent results, today the results are less than good, and due to geo targeting across an ocean of data centers, what's here today, is probably gone tomorrow. I have 5,000 favorites archived to prove it.

You have a 250,000 page website that earns $2 mil a month in advertising, you have a mishap, are penalized or vanish from Google Search, well you're SOL. There is no one you can call, no one you can email, you're left to wander and ponder in the dark as to why your website was penalized or delisted. I understand Google provides free traffic, but users search their index to find relevant content, so with that in mind is some means of direct communication with Google too much to ask for? And no neither Google Groups or Webmaster Tools are sufficient.

I could go on all day... ;)

Not saying I disagree, but if you don't do anything "bad" you usually don't risk getting any penalty.. right?

The model for parking does have it's disadvantages. But you forget how much power you have. There is no marketing without the targeted eyeballs. Google was a good option for parking domains but it's not the only option.

dnol, your idea seems far to reach but I wonder how many told Google that ten years ago. While I don't think it may come in the way you vision, you do have several options available within your reach right now:

  • Yahoo
  • MSN
  • Development
  • Developing with Yahoo Ads
  • Developing with MSN Ads
  • Developing with Google ads
  • Developing with CJ ads
  • Developing with your own ad network
  • Selling your own ad space
  • Leasing out your domain
  • Creating a business and using domains to solely fuel that business
  • resell more domains
  • sell developed domains
  • selling a virtual product
  • selling a specific product or service for another company
