Google became a little nazi in the last 3-4 years. They basically have the power to force you change your website just because they think that's the right way.

They're monitoring most of the quality sites out there. I have no problem seeing how they penalize bad, spammy sites but I know cases when people with families, earning their money online, had their sites unfair penalized or just because some stupid competitor clicked the "report" button on GWT from jealousy or whatever...

They say "don't be evil" but they are the darkest evil on the internet. They say you are free to do whatever you want with your site but if you won't listen to them you can close your online shop and start growing roses in the back garden cause you're not going to get traffic from any other SE.

Adsense is just a big joke...while you're doing a few cents, they'll do real dollars, from your sites, on your back...

Webmasters have no other choices so they have to agree with whatever silly guidelines Google comes up year by year...it's like take it or leave the internet...

As someone said above...a few years back their search results were much stronger and much more relevant than these days...

Now think how little it takes to get rid of Google from the internet map in theory. Just imagine that one day, 90% of the webmasters with high quality/high traffic sites will add a bit of code on their robots.txt file

I'm sure you know what it means :)
