i've got about 200 of these things which inspire me not in the slightest. i assume i can offload them onto some americans though. what's the going rate for a nnnnn.com for a random US zipcode, please?#

evidently 200 was optimistic - the number is 132 all of which expire on 17/2/09

the price depends on many factors 1) Demographics 2) Population 3) Location, etc Very difficult to give you an amount without knowing this information.

A lot can also depend on what houses sell for in the zip code also, as zip codes with high-value sales will be valuable to real estate companies as well as Marchex, which owns most of the US zip code domains.

The USPS manages US postal zip codes. Their lookup tool is here. I entered 5 of your names (03587, 23054, 38854, 87201 & 89494) into the search tool and received this feedback: "The ZIP Code you entered could not be found in our database. Please confirm the ZIP Code and try again. If you are certain the ZIP Code entered is valid, please send an email including your address to [email protected]."

If I owned these names and I had evidence that they are valid zip codes, I'd report the errors to the USPS, then offer for sale after the USPS updates their public lookup tool.

The internet has lots of conflicting zip code data. Many zip code domain buyers use the USPS lookup tool and regard it as the ultimate authority. Inclusion in that tool would add value to your names.

I had the same results 000 did in that I checked all 5 of those plus a bunch of other random ones on your big list and not even 1 appears to be a valid U.S. zip code.

Just because it is a 5 digit number does not mean it's a real zip code.

P.S. Why do you think they are U.S. Zip Codes? Is it possible someone told you they were zipcodes at time of your purchase or registration but you did not verify it? Not being a zipcode and also having no traffic worth mentioning makes it likely worthless.

yes they were all sold to me as zip codes. at the time i attempted to verify it by just putting the number into google and seeing if any addresses came up

as someone suggested, i put some of them into google maps just now and it works - of these 5 which someone queried earlier, only 89494 isn't resolving on google maps, so i'm a trifle confused

That is definately not a recommended way to verify a zip code.

Google has lots of non-zip numbers such as street addresses, part/product numbers, population numbers, patent numbers, item numbers, catalog numbers, foreign post codes, etc. Sometimes there are more of those than real zip code data depending on the number but the real zip code returns have the value.

It's weird, these numbers are coming up in google maps as valid zip codes, but it is hard to find many people actually using these as addresses when I search for "albuquerque, NM 87201" for example. For a valid zip code I would expect more people to actually use the address. Anyways, could be an old zip code that was replaced, although the postal service is more likely to add new zip codes because of population growth than remove old ones.

I agree with trader. You have to be aware that Google pulls up home addresses or other #'s related to a city, but it's not a zip code. In short, Google isn't always the best method when verifying a zip code.

I've learned my lesson on 18774.com :) I bought it as zip code , after a while I find out that it's not zip code

Do not verify them with google maps

Always use city-data.com
