Was .eu as over-hyped as .mobi?

I made my money in .eu (though I did not and do not believe in it). I made and am continuing to make money on .mobi (though I don't believe in it also). Bull market or bear market, if you're able to cash in- who cares if it's hyped or not.

Very wise perspective. I too would buy any premiums I could get in any new extension. And sell them quickly. It's the guys waiting for prices to go higher that I worry about. They don't have the same perspective.

For every new extension I develope a business model that allows me to cash in whether the extension have potential of succeeding and that's what good domaining is all about. I baught enough premiums to sell to make my profit and kept enough just in case .mobi takes off. I don't think .mobi will take off but I kept 3 premiums that are not for sell just in case I'm wrong. I love the hyping and I love the arguments its always good for business.

Wonder if you can tell us the 3 premium .mobi you are holding?

Now that a few more .mobi domains sold for decent prices in yesterdays auction we are sure to see another 1000 threads of .mobi hype. It's getting rather painful and well annoying. DNForum is at least still readable, but some other forums are getting to be 50% posts about that darn extension. Worse still it seems to be the same 40 or so people consistently and constantly hyping that extension. Enthusiasm is great and all, but there comes a point where the self-serving nature becomes all too evident.

I missed the .eu hoopla and by the sounds of it, it was pretty much the same.

Gripping? Yeah I guess, but it's nice to come to a forum where you can read intelligent threads about domains and the Internet that are NOT about .mobi and how it is the harbinger of the mobile Internet.

I'll probably get flamed hard for this but I think the lack of hype on DNF has much to do with the age of the posters, the high skill-set as domainers that DNF boasts and a certain decorum that resides here.

I swear, I truly think some of these people are getting 'paid' to hype up .mobi.

If you know nothing about mobile technology, dont complain. You just stick to your posts. We (.mobi owners) have as much right as you to talk about domains that we own. This is not only for ".com". This is "DOMAIN NAME FORUM". That means "Domain names" and not ".com names".
I am getting sick and tired of people discriminating against people who bought .mobi and are talking about it. If you cry this much about .mobi, then just stick to your threads.

Dont you have something more productive to do? Or do you not have a life and find it fun to beat down .mobi owners?

I have seen it, doing it, and can see the mobile industry increase. .mobi is not the future-changer. Its just an extension. Well, in your country, technology is old so you wouldnt know.

With the increase of mobile devices (some owning more than 1 phone) and with the lack of time for searching for information, quick access is needed. .com of course is the prime being. But companies cant buy these .com names from stubburn-a** .com owners. These companies are mostly start-ups with new ideas for technology.

Lets look at another point:
There are thousands of content providers who sell their screensavers or "machuike" (in Japanese). Ok so 1/10,000 companies who sells their screensavers will get www.screensaver.com. the 2/10,000 will get www.screensaverS.com. Now we have the leftover of 9,998 screensaver companies that need a name. What will their domain names be?
When .com came out, no one EVER thought about having screensavers on their mobile phone. It wouldnt be possible. no one ever thought about it that at that time.

So what you .com owners are stating is that we should not invest in .mobi. you say that we are young? you say that we are not in the industry. you say that we are newbies. And what i am getting F***ing tired of is you "Star treck .com owner nerds" think you know more about domains cause you own www.Thisismywebsite.com which is only a retarded-looking site. So what if you have been on the dnforum since 1832 A.D. I had other important things to do like help develop the mobile internet, drink beer with friends, travel, etc. But you stayed around boasting your retarded .com talking trash about .mobi owners. Just stop.
You are not better than us so stop picking and discriminating against .mobi owners. if we want to hype, that is our business. stop controlling the way .mobi owners invest. What you say about .mobi is only decreasing the value of .mobi. Most of us are NOT young. most of us are NOT newbies. some of us ARE in the industry. Ah, and importantly, we are NOT getting paid for the hype. Just a new domain name for a new industry. Some of us met here to talk about .mobi. if you dont like it, dont post.
