I honestly don't know. Children can wake up in the middle of the night and run away!

Yeah, I think so, too. I wouldn't be so quick to judge. However, the state is saying there are other issues so we'll see.

Wow that is crazy. I guess it can happen but why wouldn't someone notice that their baby is gone especially one that little? And why didn't the dad even react to the bus driver? He didn't even bother saying thanks for not running over my kid or anything.

Guys..come on..if it were in the middle of the night and you discover your kid is out in the middle of a road and a huge bus stops just short of running your child over...I can imagine the shock...

My point is, it is entirely possible that freak accidents happen even to the best of parents. Let the state finish their investigation before you start with the torches and pitchforks lol.

Yes, some people don't realize how others make mistakes. The issue here is not whether they were negligent or whether the father is a decent person, apparently he's no longer living with the mother. The question at hand is should the mother (parents) completely lose custidy. Their is already a social worker on her back, and it appears that she is making efforts. It's extremely difficult to judge people simply from one news report.

why keep your door open at that hour? Just goes to show you not everyone is a good parent.

How many people in this thread are actual parents? Are you saying you have never made an err in judgment or that nothing has ever happened to your children - ever? I almost drowned in a pool when I was a kid. Does that mean my parents were bad parents? My daughter fell down and scrapped her knee. Am I a bad parent?

Does opening a door at 2am (or whatever time it was) make one a bad parent? Yes, only good parents have no reason - ever - to open a door after midnight (please....I've opened the door after midnight plenty of times for plenty of legit reasons).

I'm just wondering....what makes this media video story a better judgment of parenting skills than an actual state investigation?? There is not enough from that video to say what type of parents they are or aren't.

OK, the ruling's out. Maybe it was a screen door. I honestly have no relationship whatsoever with the parents.

Tia, I see you're no longer a meganerd.

 Are you serious? LOL.

Nobody has ever taken the trash out at night?
Opened the door to get cool spring air in the house?
Smoked a cigarette outside?
What if you are baking at midnight, burn the cookies and need to air out the house?
The dog needs walked?

The list can go on. Not everyone goes to sleep at 8pm every day.

Actually, I believe they claimed the door was a screen door, and they had the regualr door open for fresh air.

I think it's sad people are focusing more on the little glimpse into the lives of their parenting skills based on that video and news story versus the miracle that the baby was not killed.

Thank God that driver stopped.

I totally understand freak accidents or totally not knowing the kid snuck out.

But the video itself of the bus just barreling down the street to stop just feet away from this kid...

honestly, reminds me of a stunt off Raising Arizona, except this is no stunt.

It was totally shocking to see how close and tragic this could have been.

Had the baby been run over, I am sure the papa would have something to say to the driver then.
