Bot a new reg for $7.20 (after cc fees) and turned around almost immediately for $50.00.

That's right, almost 7 times my money.

More importantly it was done in the last 45 days (not a com).

I forgot to add that I did that 137 times over that time period, most were hyphens and again none were coms.

That's a shot against the comie propaganda.

minimum profit is 100% average per sale!

".org" has highest volume of all sales!

lower profit margin for bulk deals ...... 50-75% average!

current "turn-over" time average 190 days!

$35 to over 100x that in 10 days - no, I can't "name the name" but it was a GREAT generic catch a good while back :)

people with the $8 regs and high sales bear in mind that I registered my first domain just over 6 months ago :p

Is it fair to assume these were sales during/before the 2000 bust?

Both of those sales listed I believe were in late 2000 early 2001.
Those were my two highest profit sales percentage wise and were pure luck!

Also done at least 50 sales in 2003 with the majority in the bought for reg fee or low NW and sold for $30-$500. Many here and at other forums etc.
And my most recent sale is bought for $60 (pool) sold for $500.

Do we always need to pay top dollars for good names ?
In my case unfortunately the answer is yes. :(

Anyway as for my example - Just last week:
$15,000 acquired at. Three days later for $60,000

Not my largest profit margin, or even largest sale.
But it happend just last week - So it's still fresh on my mind.

Who cares about %'s

it's the actual profit that counts :)

Indeed Jordan, definitely agree. However when you play big, you can also lose big. While on the other hand, I would think getting a reg-fee domain and selling it for a few thousand is a bit refreshing and quite motivating to say the least.

Now would I change positions? Go from high end speculator to reg fee troll? Of course not. I don't like taking random shots in the dark, just "hoping" for that magical sale. I like sure things, and high-end domain speculation can be as sure as anything if you know market trends. However at the same time, these domains can go unsold for many months. Now, what would you rather have sit dormant - A $6.95 investment. Or a $40,000 liability (domain). Sometimes it's amazing, other times - You sit wondering, should I develop? Decrease asking price? Take a loss? Liquidate and pursue a domain that has a quicker turnaround, etc etc.

Just my thoughts. Best.

Well I do definetly share the views of ad-lib and NameTower however what makes domains industry & brokering so attractive to the little guy is the chance to multiply your investment and hit the jackpot with a small $6.95 ticket... Dont' you agree ?

I like both percentages and profit. The higher the percentage the higher the profit. I would much rather have a few thousand invested in a few hundred domains for a larger audience rather than as ad-lib said a few thousand invested in a few domains with a much smaller audience and the hopes I can find the needle in a haystack to sell it to. The profits aren't as large but much easier on the pocket to know you can cash in a small portion to pull out some cash rather than sacrificing alot to do the same.
