I am looking at what some domains have sold for on Sedo in the past 5 weeks.

looking at NLLL.com and have gone to dnsaleprice.com to see what other similar domains have sold for and see over a dozen similar LLLL.com and NLLL.com domains selling at sedo for mid $xxx to $xx,xxx. However, sedo estimates mine to be $60.

I am confused. If all these similar domains are selling for an average of $xxxx how is it possible the one I have is only worth $60?

Confused...

Depending on quality of LLLL.com. Here in this forum, you could buy some LLLL.com for $20.

I understand that but what makes one nlll.com worth $60 while another is $1200 when neither mean anything?

I would not rely on automated valuations for any domain. Also, NLLL != LLLL with prices.

What I'm saying is that the $60 estimate you're getting isn't a sale, and those domains that were sold on Sedo weren't estimated at $60, apparently. There are reasons why one domain is more appealing than another, but without any specific examples it's like guessing "how long is a piece of string".

If you list your NLLL.com domain, we would sell whether it is worth anything.

I am simply trying to set a price for 0fuk.com. However I see 16yo.com sold for $1200 this month at sedo, a4mc.com sold for $1000. I am trying to get an idea of what I should list at but with this range it is tough to figure out a price.

To be honest, if 0fuk.com is available for reg fees, I wouldn't register it. I don't think it's worth a lot.

I;ve had it reg'd since last april

---------- Post added at 08:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:33 PM ----------

I am not fighting to have mine sold for $xxxx but when setting a price I think seeing what other similar ones sold for is the best way to set a price. However with the wide range I certainly don't want to low ball myself or set it too high.

Having Sedo estimate low and then see them sell ones with similar attributes for much more begs the questions. What is up and what to believe.

If I were you, I would not have put too much hope on this one. If you can get even $60, I would sell it. If no interest by April, I would have dropped this domain.

Ok Thanks.

Am I on the right track basing prices of some domains on what others have sold for? I am used to this method with vehicles, homes, and many other things and wonder if it applies to domains as well.

Do you try to match it up with the highest sale or the lowest sale?

I just try to get an idea of what other similar property is selling for. I am fully aware of the estimates from auto services and how unreliable they are. This is the only way I can think of to value property both on and offline.

I think you are missing a few things... what's more expensive a condo in the middle of no where... or a condo on a nice beachfront ?

I guess it's not as simple as that but.. without thinking about it i will take the beachfront property.

So in this case.. 16yo.com = 16 year old. As soon as you show me the domain it has sense.. i can see value.

Now .. you show me 0fuk.com ? Sorry i'm drawing a blank. It has no meaning to me at all.

I think the true value of a domain lies in the eyes of the end user/ buyer. You can list that for $1000 and if someone on this planet must have 0fuk.com, they will pay whatever price you list it as. A good way to tell if you're sitting on a domain worth more than the registration fee is to look to see if the other extensions are available. In your case, they are all available for purchase so it might be hard for you to sell that domain right now for top $$$ especially if I could just go out and get the next 10 extensions for $60 (not exaggerating). Any registrar is also really good at taking your money to appraise a domain name for you..

This is all in my opinion...
