Actually there are more aspect ratios than just widescreen, 1280x1024 is not widescreen but it is a different aspect ration than 1024x768. It is the only setting that I can use without distortion because it is the native resolution (and I don't want to set it lower anyway). If you have a 1024x768 native, yes, you can set it at 800x600. They are the same aspect ratio. For optimal performance always use the native setting. If it doesn't distort, it will still be blurry, etc. And yes, 800x600 is for the vision impaired.

I've been running at 1600x1200 for many months (Viewsonic VP201s).

I just picked up a Dell 2405FPW 24" LCD though, which can do 1920x1200. I've been having problems getting to that resolution with the machine that's connected to it now (stuck at 1600x1200 again, grrr), though, but when I update to a DVI video connection in a week or two, it should be at its maximum 1920x1200.

The Dell 24" goes on special fairly often (watch the bargain hunting message boards), and is already under $1000 USD when it's not on special.

1800 x 1440 on 2 21" monitors

1800 x 1440 - SWEET!

I use 1600x1200 on a 20" LCD monitor so I can play 4 poker tables at once without any overlap :bandit:
