Not so long time ago I bought divi.org

On this forum it was apraisal at 0$

Today I receive an offer:

"My name is Anthony Giel from The Netherlands. We have
founded a organisation who's name is DiVi but we have a problem because I think you have his domain registered, my question is if it's possible to come to an arangement to handle it over if you are not using it, for the organisation of Divi in Holland (The Netherlands)
I hope we can come to an arangement. Thanks in advance."

I told the guy that the domain is for sale and I would wait an offer from him...he offered $50

Now what should I do?

Accept or not....

Tks,
Calin

$500 seems reasonable - since the buyer has a personal interest in that name.

The buyer gave you a lowball offer. Act accordingly.

Calin, this is my ( somewhat ) standard response to low offers:

"Hello,

Thank you for your $50.00 USD offer for the domain name, DIVI.org.

I am sorry, but I cannot resell domain names for $50.00 and stay in business.

Domain name reselling hinges largely upon NegotiatioN.

I would like to get as close to $xxx.00 USD as possible.

I offer quick paperless transfers and secure credit card processing.

I am an honest and reasonable man.

1 - You can accept my offer and have DIVI.org within 48 hrs after payment is confirmed.
2 - You can provide a counteroffer, which I will consider.
3 - You can decline or ignore my offer and I will close this file after FIVE (5) business days.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck and best wishes.

Regards, you
your email address"

according to google, the ones you are talking to are probably the owners of the divi beach hotel and casino in the netherlands?

if so, I would have no problem in countering with 2000

I replaied asking for $1000 and he said that this is too expensive and he doesn't want to pay more than $50 ... maybe is a bluff ... so I'll see...I'll not sell it for $50 for sure...

Domain Duck, a very nice template for how to respond to any loose inuiqires regarding one of your names. Looks professional and it makes sense.

If you need the cash sell, if not keep. If he really wants it he'll make another offer. You should try and get some info on the guy. See if he has other domains like divi.com??

You've only had it just over a month and got an offer.

(there is no way you will be able to actually transfer it from Godaddy account for another 26 days, or whatever anyway, as far as I know).

You may well get a few hundred for it, but I would stick out for at least US$100 to US$150, especially if they *are* into casinos and that sort of business.

My 2p worth. :)

When your domain was appraised at $0, would you have sold it for $50? If so, then you could cash in on a sure thing. If you absolutely must have $xxx, then tell him that. Chances are good that nobody else is going to approach you with an offer on this domain, so tread carefully.

A good rule of thumb that is frequently cited around here is not to set your asking price based on how much $$ your prospective buyer has, but on what you would have been happy with before they ever contacted you. Greed is a killer in this game.

If you don't want to sell it for his best offer, then tell him you would rather hold onto it and wish him the best in his future endeavors. Be prepared to never hear from him again. Maybe you will, maybe you won't.

p.s. Don't forget that the US$0 valuation would have been for sale to a reseller.

(seems to be the norm for some reason I don't quite understand why. Who sells to resellers any way, unless they are keen for some quick money like me ;) ).

The only sort of domain that would get an end-user valuation of US$0 is one that is completely useless to an end user (or has 101 alternatives that are free to be registered), and your's is obviously far from useless.
Good luck anyway, and if you get a sale eventually and can tell us, I for one would love to know. :)
