I have a domain listed on Sedo.
It is geo domain name, ccTLD of Lithuania (.lt)
Someone made me the offer and after some negotiation I sent domain to the auction.
2 day before the end of the auction I received this kind of email from Sedo's personnel:

Dear Mr. xxxxxxx,

I’m xxxxxxxxxx, the Country manager at Sedo.com.

You are selling the domain xxxxx.lt on our auction and the bidder was an Italian customer.

I have been in contact with this customer, and he has written me an e-mail and told me that he made a big mistake with this domain. He was sure he was buying the .IT domain: xxxxx.it.
I have spoken with him and taken a look at your negotiation. He told me you were very clear and wrote in your comments 2 times it is a .LT and not an .IT domain. He simply didn’t read your comments: he received 3 counter-offers from you and read only the first comment.

Therefore, he made a mistake and was sure he was buying the .it domain. He doesn’t need the .lt domain and would like to break off the transaction.
He is very sorry, and would like to offer you a little sum of money for the time you have wasted with him.
Would that be ok for you?

Best regards,

My position is:

To wait the end of the auction. I want to sell this name. The buyer agreed (according to Sedo rules) to pay this sum when he made me his offer and as it seen from email I was clear with him.

What kind of legal actions can I use against this buyer and this situation?

I need your advice asap.

What should I do?

tough call... Take the Good Karma legally i think you have a good shot. but I would take the Karma and the free auction to see the market.

I think Sedo it partly to blame too...those damn L i v v vv etc get tough sometimes ..

this was a simple mistake. when I get emails i admit i sometimes just read the top and skim the rest.

we don't have all the details... this is just a general thought.

its your call ... Im not sure its a Legal call at this stage anyway.

Good Luck :yo:

Frankly, I would let it go and move on....in my experience - it is not worth the hassle as you will not receive any help from Sedo. It was a mistake. And sedo seems to be onboard to let the guy off the hook...You can go after him legally, but it will be expensive and time consuming.

I've just see dubai.lt on Sedo
It's this your domain?

The only thing you can do is take that guy to the court and tell him to pay you.

To err is human.

I would accept his apologies and hopefully you might get some more bidders.

Maybe look at this from how a registrar would handle a registration.

If you realize you have reg'ed a typo by mistake you have few days to notice and cancel the order, after that they don't care. They gave you a legit chance and then you are required to keep the name along with forfeit of payment.

Sounds like you offered plenty of info, 3 replies with the .LT info. If sedo would like to let him off the hook they should compensate you for the deal and sell them the name. (and they should fix that .lt and make everything CAPS)

I agree to err is human, but to disregard information sent to you (3 times) then cry about later doesn't sound like good business to me.

I think to err is human too.
The problem is Sedo don't make things easy for the sellers...this is the point.

Why are you sending out spam emails?

"Dear Sirs,

My name is Farid Mammadov, and I am the owner of the internet domain
name: Dubai.LT.

Domains are growing in value each year as you will discover by reading
DNJournal's weekly domain name sales articles:

I am writing to you because I am offering domain Dubai.LT for sale,
and I wonder if your company would be interested in acquiring this
domain name.

Please note that in case of interest you can bid on this domain name,
which is on Sedo auction at the present (link to Sedo auction:

Personally I do not think sending these type of emails, if in small
numbers and targeted in some way, is wrong at all. I am always sending
emails to people asking if they want to buy a particular domain when
I know they may be interested in it. Its called "marketing".

Good on him for trying to sell them, as long as the emails are not
too numerous to one person.

Sorry to be pedantic but not at all always. If I am writing email to
someone I dont know I usually either put "hello" or "dear sirs" depending
what mood Im in.
