what do you think is the best to do with a very good
versatile generic domain that fits into many categories?

1. own pay per click engine

2. offer ad links

3. Affiliate programms?

any other ideas?

Depends on the name. I would think a PPC would work best, but a targeted affiliate program might pull in more $$$.

You could set up subdomains on it. What about these?

car.buy.info - tips on buyingcars
home.buy.info - tips on buying homes
computers.buy.info - tips on buying computers

Then, on the buy.info site, you could list the links to the subdomains so people could click to find that information.

The site could be huge, but would need a lot of information to be worthwhile.

Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

..Very good question!...I have same issue with links-shop.com which I launched in July and I keep adding things, taking things out, (keep the ones that traffic are showing interest in and dumping the ones that do nothing, it's all trial and error!)... I use it to point to affiliate programs to earn cash and looking for good domain resources...I will be changing the second page as last year I started looking into the domain name side of things and this forum has been a fantastic source of information and now feel I have a lot more learning on that side, so I will just stick with resources and affiliates I can find for now, but it is working ok so far considering it is a simple site to fit in with my time constraints!!

Good luck :)

The power of sub-domains is something overlooked by most of us, including myself, though I have some good ones which could be used for that purpose.

Buy.info seems to be a rare case of a shorter name being valued less than the longer version buying.info

Would you rather get car.buying.info or car.buy.info?
