I am selling a domain that has earned me nearly $1,000...parked and undeveloped. It's for a popular diet drug that doesn't require a prescription.

I'm not asking for an appraisal, but I would like to know what a fair multiple would be. I have heard some people say as high as 8 years earnings.

I think it should be a little higher, as this item sells at a premium, and people visiting this domain are looking to buy the product.

What's a good multiple for an asking price in this situation?

How old are you now? Assuming 25.
How long will you live? Assuming an average age of 75.
The difference is 50. That's the multiple you need to be using.

Thank you Acro. I'm tired of potential buyers trying to convince me the "right" multiple is three years or some such nonsense.

Hi

if the domain is a typo of the brand, then it will be tough to get offers above 2 years.

also, how long did it take you to make $1000 from this domain, as that should be taken it account when trying to figure a price range.

if the domain is a generic word or phrase that just happens to sound the same or confusing similiar, there still may be risk associated with it and therefore lower multiples.

i will only sell typos for a multiple based on revenue, not generic domains.

though if i were to figure the multiples for any generic names i've sold recently, it would be in the 75 > 100 year range.

but you can ask any price or multiple you wish, it's up to the potential buyer to agree.
