Thanks for posting, zouzas, that's a nice new article on the big .ca sale from the Emall.ca guys perspective. Interesting to put some faces to Emall and see that they are speculators like a lot of us here, and were wondering at one time whether the .ca market would ever take off. Their sale has hit a lot of major press in Canada and will help the .ca extension. No wonder they had such good names, they were regging back in 1996. I remember looking at .ca registry before 2000 and at that time you could see what names were available, but you couldn't buy unless you were a company or organization. After checking out the Emall site and some of their names, I also see that Emall was still regging names in December 2005. Now that they have a lot of cash I wonder if they will go on a regging spree.

Now, where is the original .ca thread??

i think yellowpages picked them up cheap,,they should have held out for more..

the sale does show how companies the size of yellow pages are looking at domains and extensions much differently then they did 5 years ago..

From the DNjournal sales report yesterday:

http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Canada reigns over the Country Codes this week thanks to Irex Corp's 23,000 Canadian dollar ($20,494) purchase of Retirement.ca in a private transaction. The company also sent us details on three other previously unannounced .ca acquisitions they made earlier this year, including Cruise.ca at 37,450 Canadian dollars ($33,363). They also bought Auto.ca for 11,6000 Canadian ($10,334) and TravelVacations.ca for 3,000 Canadian ($2,673).

Has the old .ca thread ever been found?

Been a while since anyone posted here, and the old .ca thread is not yet found to my knowledge. Last two weeks have been pretty quiet for .ca sales, anyone see any action or good names on the TBR drops?

I can't seem to get the ones I want for a decent price... I was after freak.ca, CityDirectory.ca and l3.ca a while back, but I am still not ready to spend that kind of cash one one of these just yet...

I have about 5 or so in my list right now, I have not gotten a .ca from a drop yet...

Some .ca's made the latest weekly country code sales report at dnjournal

http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Canada's .ca has three names on the new list, led by #4 Teens.ca, acquired by Irex.ca for 4,874 Canadian dollars ($4,382) in a private transaction. Irex also bought Visas.ca and RVS.ca (which tied for 12th) for 3,000 CAD ($2,698) each.

Irex.ca bought four more Canadian domains in a package that averaged 1,012 CAD ($910) each. That group included Motors.ca, Litigation.ca, ImmigrationLaw.ca and Barrister.ca.

Let's try to keep this thread alive...

Weekly sales report is out at dnjournal. Only two .ca small sales made the list
HorseBreeding.ca $1,850
Publication.ca $1,651

http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Of more important note was that several country code domains were in the top 20 sales for ALL extensions, including the number 1 sale of the week, Blackjack.de for $300,000. OnlineKasino.de also went for $37,000. .de is a pretty popular extension (second in numbers to .com) but I think it just shows the importance of country code domains. Germany has less than 3 times the population of Canada, I think.

Yellow Pages bought out all the remaining postal codes (first 3 digits) this past December. They own about 99% of them.

I know they bought a portfolio of names but it is news to me about postal codes. I just checked mine and a few others and sure enough they got them. Who would have guessed!

AirlineFlight.ca | AirCourier.ca | MatchmakingService.ca | UQT.ca | SmallEngine.ca

I hadn't heard about the postal code sales either, but it makes sense for local search. Just enter the first three digits of your postal code, etc...

Future looks brighter than ever for .ca

Country code domains continuing to do well in weekly sales, only one .ca this week (Canoe360.ca for $3,333 was number 8 in country codes).

http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Other ones that made the top ten country code list include .us, .es, .de, .eu, .cc, .ch
Prices ranged from $1,200 to $30,000 (Models.us)

Three country code domains even made it onto the top 20 list for all extensions. The models.us sale for 30k was the highest confirmed value of a .us domain sale.

A lot of NN .ca's dropping next week. They will get a good price.

On a side note, has anyone looked up a domain owned by internic.ca lately? I just did and somehow a Woman popped up on my screen. It's annoying actually. I did a search through cira.ca and searched for momentous.ca and viola. There she was!!
