This is not the place to come for grade D pork, it is however the place to come for filet.

This forum will remain focused on business and people will come and go.

Those times see behind us all now and there surely is alot more FOCUS on business lately! I agree with you on the less fun part. I suggested this before that we should have like "venting/fire" section else everything is going to be super business. I miss the exchanges that Denny007 used to bring around...

I understand if Adam is trying to make this a business orientated forum... hell, it is his 'house'... but I think its possible to have that and have a forum where freedom of speech (with exception to anything derogatory and personal,etc) to exist.... this is the internet and I don't think a traditional business model should apply or need be applied...

If a thread is deemed to be a fire thread, then just move it to that section. Hell, the mods or members could have like a flagging choice. I'm just saying... you can have the best of both worlds here. I here other members fear of getting banned. I got my first and only 'warning point' for commenting on a member who've been here since 2002 with tons of posts making a ridiculously newbie comment and it just deserved it (in m opinion)... it was a strong response, but I dare not say insulting....

I dont know what the solution is but this isnt a brick and mortar entity... there is a strong internet culture here and I think both traditional means of business and non-traditional means of business can be inducted and fused to make this thing work....

I had no issue with denny at all, I actually found him entertaining. He said what most of us wanted to say but didn't have the balls to.

The main thing we need to realize is that there is a line on personal attacks that shouldn't be crossed.

To be honest the public fights between members is GREAT for the forum, we just need to make sure they stay on topic.

Last few days I notice a drop in posts. It was common for me to see 100-400 new posts between visits (over 1000 if I missed a day). But now it is like around 50. Not sure why this is.

My guess is that many are glued to CNN watching the Patreaus Report coverage.

Another reason is that they can't earn DN$ for making crap posts.

Not you personally as i have never dealt or heard of you before but previously certain mods on here had their favourites and there was an element of the old pals act with some long term members which is wrong ! we should be treated with equal respect.

Oh don't worry, just a few minutes ago even I have been accused of favoritism via PM. Being a moderator is a thankless job. You know there are always three ways of looking at an issue between to people -- your view, other person's view and the right view.

Well, there is no denying that people will do more for people they like -- that's so clearly one of the principles of Robert Cialdini's Influence. =) But I guess, that's part of life.

However, I do agree that a person enforcing the rules should look at it from a neural point of view and what is good for the community in the long run rather than what is good for one person.

Um, Nope. We take waaaaaaaaaaay much more crap than appreciation. I cannot tell you how many times I have been insulted and called every name in the book via PM because the person on the other end did not agree with what we thought.

There are a few people here who do express appreciation for the mods, but they are VERY few and FAR between. I would say I get 50 nasty-grams for every compliment . . . It goes with the turf I suppose.
