Hi,

I am planning to develop a site; the name of the site is the MSET Network, where MSET is an acronym.

Which domain do you thing sounds more professional?

#1 - mset.net
#2 - msetnet.com

Thanks,
David

P.S.
-The first letter of the acronym I changed from the real letter to m, so that somebody doesn't taken it.
-mset.com is taken

If you are developing you buy both names. Hopefully, they are still available.

Yes! My thoughts exactly. Short, catchy, and memorable because of the rhyme.

This is an instance where the .net is the better play.

I believe the .NET is the better domain for sure. I dislike having the word "net" spelled out in a .COM name. I think having "net" spelled out in a .COM domain name looks much less professional.

Good idea to register them both, but I would use the mset.net as the primary web address. Short, memorable and to the point!

Just my 2 cents worth...

I second woeger. The .net name is more impressive, professional and memorable in this case.

Agree, but I'd use both, anyway. :)

Vox,

When you say use both, I am unclear of what you mean...

Are you saying to promote both domains as the primary web site in search engines and advertising (i.e. have 2 exact duplicates of the sites hosted and online under the 2 names). If this what you are saying, then I disagree. I believe only the .net version should be promoted and hosted with a site, and that the msetnet.com version of the domain just be a redirect to the mset.net name and site primarily to catch "typos" of the mset.net domain name.

If you are meaning to use the .net and just redirect the second domain, then you and I are on the same sheet of music.

Your wording of recommending that he use both domains is what is unclear in your post. 'Use' can mean different things to different people.

Thanks,

Adam

Thank you everyone for your input.
mset.net is overwhelmingly preferred; I think I'll go with it.

I always take the .net over variations as xxxnet.com xxxdot.com xxxweb.com xxx.inc.com etc IN fact if the .net was taken, I 'd probably drop the concept. All these variations signify weakness or desperation to "be what you cant have" but that's just me.
