Hi all

I have lost a few domains which were deleted and registered by others because I have been so busy with my full time job (at least 48 hours a week).

I got hundreds of domains with more than 10 registrars and I wonder how I manage them.

How do you guys manage your domains?

Have you ever lost domains like myself?

I appreciate your suggestions.

thanks

I've transfered all my domains at only 3 registrars.

I also use Watch My Domains Pro to check the names.

I've set the email notification at my registrars...some days before expiration date they send me a mail to renew.

I've renew the best domains for 5 years.

Thanks, Carter.

I will try to transfer the domains to main registrars. It would cost more money.

I also registered my best names for about 5 or more years.

There's no excuse for letting registrations lapse, but having said that, the best thing to do is consolidate your domains in one register.

Just use simple spreadsheet with following columns.
Domain names, Registered Date, Exp. Date, Paid Amt (if you bought it from someone),
Registrar plus what ever you want to add.

Just Sort by "Exp. Date" and you'll always know which domains are coming up for
renewals no matter how many registrars you are using.

Or, create simple database based on that spreadsheet and create flag to warn you
about upcoming renewal dates.

One registrar, an account executive that lets me know what is expiring and when and who processes my new registrations and renewals, discounts because of this, all domains to set to auto renew just in case, a valid credit card on file, and occasionally exporting my entire list in csv format to import and compare to my detailed Excel spreadsheet.

Minimize your cash outlay by transferring your domains close to their expiry when consolidating your domains with one registrar.

most if not all registrars send emails of notification for domain renewals, well in advance of expiration date

make sure all contact info is the same at every registrar and you/your name and email are valid

consolidation is great, but i'm hesitant to all my ducks in one egg.

you can also review which domains are set to "auto-renew" or not and keep enough funds to extend the registrations.

you must audit your inventory!

Yes once a year its a great idea to take a full inventory especially if you use multiple registrars. Using Watch My domains software and excel to sort by date.

i do the same thing
and Moniker is one of my main registrar

Moniker needs to correct some small bugs (A record with email forwarding at the same time, domain portfolio lock with verification for sell it with Snapnames), .in and .com.cn contact info ....

But it is a good registrar.

Hey owndomain

If you're running into an issue and you need assistance, don't hesitate to email directly! I'll see if I can squash the bug for you!

An excel spreadsheet is enough for me. You need to have the expiring date in one column, and you can sort your records, or filter the data for names expiring in one particular month.

You guys are crazy..and OP is nuts too for being at so many registrars!
I stick with my main three: NameCheap, Tierra.Net, and DomainSite.

All of the above registrars email you thirty days and fifteen days in advance before a domain expires. The above three have the best pricing, too...

DomainSite is probably the cheapest and most basic.
NameCheap is the second cheapest with probably the best interface.
And then Tierra.net is probably the most secure.

All have really great support as well. :) I haven't lost a domain yet because I'm constantly notified.

right now, I know I got about 90 with like 5 registrars....I am slowly migrating them to one..I know which registrars I absolutely hate and some I get because if I get a dropped domain, it always goes to some wack registrar no one has heard of, then I forget to transfer it until the domain comes up for renewal. Such a pain in the arse finding the login to them. I do keep about 60 of my domains with one registrar and the rest are scattered, but at this point in time, I keep them all in my head and every so often I will remember that "hey, i have that domain" then I check up on it.

Arcane yes, but I am so not an organized person.

Trust me on this one please, after much experiece at this with lots of names my reply in post #7 above is the way to go.

Once you get them consolidated (and running Watch My Domains) when you buy domains you can ask the seller to transfer it instead of a push.
