Here is my final guess on the reasons for
1) GoDaddy being on the market (being sold)
2) Influx of good domain names, 3 letter domains on the market
Please do not take offense if you're investments include 3 letter domains, etc. This is merely my speculation.
I believe that both of these are impacted by the coming of custom TLDs.
Custom TLDs are the final evolution of the domain cycle (and the unwinding of the market as we know it)
