.

why BIG Web and IT companies never sponsor BIG sport events and teams???

despite BIG companies like IBM, Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc. have LOTS OF BILLION$$$ OF CASH, they never sponsor BIG events or BIG sport teams like a Formula1 teams (as done byRed Bull) or a soccer teams (like the Real Madrid, etc.) or something else

the only sponsorships of big companies I know are a NASCAR team by GoDaddy and an American Cup sail ship by Oracle

Mate,
There are various definition of sponsors.. only funding a event does not completely list out as sponsor.
Also, will re-phrase, not IT and web companies, "Technology" firms , cause today, every company is diversified

IBM , Apple, Microsoft , Google are not pure IT companies.!! There billion of cash is not becuase of their single line of business but focus on diversification!

So, tell me a billion dollar pure IT or web providing solution company ..

and all these companies are not running NGOs.. they are selling in competitive market and focus on what their business interest lies the most..
a US IT firm with no interest in Indian consumers or building a base in India will why sponsor a cricket event ??

true, but I refer to a full sponsorship as done in the past by Marlboro or now by Red Bull in Formula 1

in other words, I haven't seen yet (e.g.) a Formula 1 team with the Amazon or Google or Xbox colors

In America F1 is a pothole compared to Nascar. Nobody cares. And soccer sits FAR behind all the other major sports in terms of coverage and fan base in North America.

And have you considered that just because a company is "big" that it doesn't necessarily have the liquid capital to sponsor such events? They got big because they didn't blow through money...

The OP is clearly out of touch with reality.

GoDaddy frequently advertises on sporting events, particularly NFL football. And that is just one of many.

Pull your head out of the sand or where ever you have it. Just because you don't see it does not mean it is not happening.
