Can I be in the .com club if I own XXXX number of dot com's?

How many .nets will it take?

How many .mobi's does it take to be exiled?

Hi!

I used to post here alot, early on .mobi!

I am happy to return and see a sales section for .mobi.. steps forward I think!

True though, with 3 billion current mobile phone subscriptions (coming to the internet) we might need/see more mobile sections to come with all the forums, period.

Technically .mobi is not a cc (country) TLD.
In fact, if I were to restructure the current selling forums I'd do this:

1. Old School: COM/NET/ORG/BIZ/INFO
2. CC: .de/.ws/.us/.eu etc.
3. Other: .mobi/.junk/.crap etc

here's something...

whether or not .mobi ever gets any respect here, should not affect your agenda...or will it?

if .mobi is the "one"
Excellent point. Seriously.

Mobi is "one" of the ones.

Naw, I don't care if mobi gets the respect. That will come.

In the meantime, why not leave it be.

Do people honestly think that is what I am all about? .mobi?

To me it represents an additional facet of life and communication. It is an opportunity to be part of technological advances. It also represents an internet modality that is for the consumer and masses on the go.

I still say with cellular phones outselling PC's and laptops by a margin of four to one, I like those odds.

But don't you worry. I am not going to unleash my LL's, LLL's, and L-L's in all extensions to raise funds for future sales and projects. Those are my money makers.

I'm just not sitting still and letting an opportunity pass me by. Skeptic I was until this past spring.

Skeptic no more. I'll risk adding to my portfolio with growth that is already supported by 4:1 odds. That's how I see it but obviously a great many others don't see it so.

To each, his or her own.

I don't think mobi has to earn respect here. I don't have to earn respect here. There are a little over 44,000 people who are registered members on this forum. That represents a minute amount of the world's population that is barely calculable.

I think I'm in good company.

You might have a point.

One ccTLD is .va for the Holy See (Vatican City State)

Therefore, we are not worth of ccTLD status.

I'll be back. Gotta pee and eat some birthday cake and ice-cream. Please, continue on as if I was here

I was respectful to you and you, in turn, were disprespcetful to me.
This is where the problem lies.

here's my personal opinion, and it's just that...not the forums, admins or other mods.

I did not ask for 'your' opinion about anything. I am asking that the admin reconsider placing a tld in the wrong category.

first...you want respect for who?

you or .mobi?

.mobi is an extension. I doubt it will care if you respect it or not. The respect should be given to those dnf members who are invested in the .mobi extension, and at the very least be placed in the proper category as are all the other hundreds of extensions in existance.

new domainers imo, only want to know about .mobi because they either can't get good .com's or they think .mobi will be the new .com

but it's just my opinion.

Again, I did not ask for your opinoin on .mobi. But now that I see what it is, you are clearly the wrong person to be discussing this with. An open-minded professional would probably be a better choice. Some one who is not bitter for one reason or another.

i ain't bashing... it's just what i think about the subject when it comes to "assuming" what new domainers want to know, and or how they will get "confused" because .mobi is labeled as a cctld on dnf.

i think, and again it's my opinion... that many of you are already confused!

You are just chuck full of opinions I see.

Since you are flooding me with yours, here are mine. I think that the majority of the people who are so against .mobi are those who thought it would be a bad move. Saw what happened with .eu and got scared. Did not take the chance and go for it. I think that most of you 'assume' that only 'newbies' have invested in .mobi. You are 100% incorrect.

I think that if you do not like an extension, you simply do not buy into it. Behaving like children and mocking .mobi investors at every turn is futile. It does nothing to change the fact that .mobi is here, some of us invested in it, and you did not. That was your choice, as much as it was ours to invest.

Dot com was first, and it will always be known as the first. Why you insist on comparing it to .mobi is your own issue.

Sending .mobi to the corner on this 'professional domainer's forum' is immature and incorrect. Regardless of your personal opinion on the validity of the extension.

yeah...i said it, and i still don't care what the label is.

Would u care if .com was put in the cctld section? Assuming you have other extensions in your portfolio.. how about .net, .org or .info? Would you not like to see your extension placed where it should be placed on this forum?

you could label it a "kingtld" and put some of the "crown jewels" around it, spray all kinda sweet perfume on it and put it inside that "pink dress" from the "Drama Queen" image that the other ".mobi lobbyist" posted.

and in the end, it will still only be a .mobi when you strip it down.

I find it amusing you think that gtld is a 'lable' that .mobi does not deserve. Its not a label. Its a fact. .mobi is a gtld, not a cctld. That is all there is to it. It does not belong with country code tld names.

.mobi gotta earn respect

.mobi has to earn respect? What do you mean? Its not a person, its a domain extension. Why does it need to earn your respect? Who are you?

Lets go to ebay and see if they have the dvds listed in the dvd section or in the barbie section. I will bet they have it in the right place. They are not trying to 'spank' the dvds.

That is what this all boils down to. Its a personal nutcase hatred for a domain extension. Dot mobi names had a wonderful day at sedo. a .mobi auction.. what a concept. Sold well over 800k. That is remarkable. Respect that.

I do not recall any .net or .org only auctions. Do they have your respect?

you responded by say "Bigg"

which means you are responding to me, not addressing Administration.
and you're taking it way too personal

i'll continue to state my opinion, just like you and any other member, whether or not you ask for it.
if you start a discussion thread or post in one, and if it is of interest to me, i will post my opinion.

i wouldn't care where any extension was placed or how it was labeled, as long as members could find it and buy and sell domains names there.

Thank you, oh Fearless one, for being the inspiration I have been looking for.

I already feel the bond strengthening.

Or it might just be gas.

Yup, gas.

I am addressing you, Bigg, as you are the moderator who responded to my original post. You represent this site as a mod.

I was asking to move the extension to the proper place. You made it personal when you replied with your (insulting) opinions to my post.

The original question was not a request for an opinion, it was a request to make a correction when there has clearly been a mistake. Whether intentional or otherwise.

As for not caring as long as it could be found for buying and selling.... I had to run a search for the first several times I looked for .mobi here since it was not in the correct category. I have been a member here for a long time, and I had difficulty finding it, so I am 99.9% sure, new members are having a hard time finding it as well. It needs to be placed in the correct area.

YW and truth hurts, doesn't it? If you can't deal with it then consider yourself a fool's gold lemming chaser.

Its not the truth, it is your idea of a flame.

You are stuck in 95' acro. It's time to wake up and join the here and now. This is the same old sewage from you. Try to diversify a little bit. There are hundreds of extensions other than .com. If you don't believe me.. here is a link for you to check out when you have a little down-time.

www.dnjournal.com

You will see many names there that end in something other than .com .. and they have actually been sold for a good amount of money.

Guys,

It does not cost anything to say something nice - so use it as it is free!

There is a difference between personal opinion and personal attack.

Thanks,

Hi John.

Maybe you can help me.

I am wondering why the .mobi subforums are posted in the cc tld section. Is this an oversight or was it as Bigg says?

Thanks,
Mej

- Don speaks as himself and does not represent dnf as he stated in his post.
- This is the public forum which run by private owner. There are rules/policy that we (members, mods, admins) have to follow.
- If you think this is in the wrong section/forum then you can post a request and it will be up to Adam to decide.

Thanks,
John

- I would suggest that mods do not start flame-wars with members who have a legitimate concern. As long as 'moderator' is under the name, there is an affiliation with the site. I would expect that to be considered before responding to any member's concern.. especially when it was a very simple and honest question.

- Rules and policies are great. I am all for them. I do not see what that has to do with my question, unless you are telling me that having .mobi in the cctld area is part of that policy.

- I do think it is in the wrong section/category as I have stated many times this evening. Considering that this is the suggestions/feedback area, I was sure my question was best posted here. Please do consider this my post to request it be moved.

This entire fiasco has really been rediculous.

Suffice it to say, it appears to me that it does not do members any good (apparently members who like .mobi in particular) to make suggestions or point out obvious mistakes, unless there is time to battle it out with mods and members who want to argue.

Its in the wrong place. You know it, we all know it. Its hard to find, You know it , we all know it. It needs to be moved.

I would think that it would be Adam that ultimately makes the decision, so why don't you guys send him a PM or call him on his cell phone? as opposed to bitching about it, which will get you nowhere.

Does he not visit the suggestions and feedback portion of the site?
I do not have his phone # and I think this post should be a clear indication of what I am requesting.

BTW, I am not 'bitching' , ty, I am asking for a correction.

Was there a requirement that I missed when I registered here, that members must be rude?
