why post example.com as the name in question, if it wasn't the domain?

Lol.... When he said he paid "xx,xxx" for it, did you think he was using Roman numerals, too!

But, seriously, before throwing around that kind of money, I'd want a positive ID on the email, the phone, and some form of identification; the whois history, the archive.org history; and would not use a blind escrow.

In your particular case I believe
Escrow should be held responsible

Try reading their terms some time.

What's the domain name ?
If you're positive the domain is stolen you should post it so that nobody is going to fall for it.

What if you change escrow by sedo. Would that change the situation?
Can you safely assume that SEDO looks a bit more into a seller's credentials?
