We elected a new president last night and today the Dow was down 5.05% and the Nasdaq was down 5.53%. Should we blame Obama for that?

In October -the Dow Jones Industrial Average had its worst month since September 1931. It was clear in October that Obama was likely going to be the President according to all polls - is it Obama's fault?

Day 2 results - Stocks tumble again since Obama win
Dow down additional 4.85% (day 1 -5.53%)
Nasdaq down additional 4.34% (day 1 -5.05%)

Obama's fault?

If you read my prior post I'm smart enough to realize it is a global financial crisis but I'm just stating some facts to rattle the cages of people who are blaming Bush for everything. I'll continue to do that (and I'm an independent voter ..... consider myself a liberal republican actually)

I voted for McCain for Prez and I voted to re-elect Dem. Earl Pomeroy here in North Dakota for the House.

Stocks tumble, lose 10 percent in 2-day rout

"Major indexes have lost about 10 percent since Barack Obama was elected president -- a vote preceded by a steep rally -- and the losses represent the Dow's worst two-day percentage decline since the October 1987 crash. "

Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obama's Fault?

That would be my guess. I'll bet these headlines today were faked for a DEM planted detractor:

Wall Street recoils again after reports on retail sales
Jobless claims stoke recession fears.
Holiday outlook grim
Retailers suffer through weakest October in at least 39 years
Americans to cut back on holiday gifts

Irregardless who did what and when, this bumpy ride is not over Larry. Not by a long shot.

Do prep yourself and family for a little trimming here and there.

Actually I'm not overly worried even though we have lost a bundle in stocks this year %wise (it's not a loss unless we sell them though). It really is the buying opportunity of a lifetime here right now. I think we will start seeing a major rebound occur in February next year. That could start much earlier ....... with China and emerging markets leading the way (my guess).

Go Brazil!!!!!!!!

I think it is highly unlikely there is any type of a rebound in early 09.

If we do see one..it won't be until 3rd quarter of 2009. If we're lucky.

After this last comment, Larrywentz joins the list of whack jobs on DNF along with bd77 and Gregcyber. I mean, face it: Bush ****ed America in the *** for 8 straight years and Republicans just lost the election. Deal with it like a man instead of acting like a sissy.

If this turns out to be the worst Christmas for retailers, which I think it will... How will that effect the market?

Well raider if they don't drop prices way down, then there will be many biz's go bye bye.

Auto makers are in gov't talks about a bail out for them, they had already said they can't let auto makers fail. The silver lining is they will agree, to make very high milage autos for the loans. They likely got the plans already, and need the funds to retool to make the very high milage autos.

If Xmas is a really bad one this year, hopefully the gov't will need to get tuff on banks. And out right tell them they start loaning money, or any bank that don't their rates will rise really high.

And the goal will be to put them out of banking, and the gov't will jump in as soon as they are ready to BK. And sell it off to other banks that are loaning, in other words start loaning or get out of banking.

They give them all that money to start loaning money, but they are not loaning money. They will start loaning if they know, they will be getting much higher rates over other banks that are loaning. Because other banks, will surely start loaning money out that for sure.

Acro ..... KeywordFactory said it right in another thread. You won a monthly award for pointing out a couple of domain theifs & now pretend you're an expert of everything. In a question in this thread -
http://www.dnforum.com/f465/adsense-azoogleads-thread-328043.html - you supplied a completely wrong answer regarding a "very simple" Adsense question .... and you call yourself a professional in web development?

I'm an independent voter (liberal republican more or less) as I stated before and voted here in ND to re-elect Democrat Earl Pomeroy for the House for example. I am much more worried about the extreme tax & spend liberals in congress which gained back control in 2006 from the republicans. I voted for McCain but I really don't fear Obama as a president as long as he surrounds himself around people like Buffet, Powell, etc..... . The wack jobs like Nancy Pelosi are the real nightmares.

Other people who are total wackjobs are people who accuse Bush of causing the war, 9-11 (while forgetting the worldtrade center was previously attacked under Clinton's tenure) and the world-wide economic crisis. You fall in that category.

Will Obama End Global Trade?

From the above Motley Fool Article -

"The foreign reaction to Obama's election that matters most, however, is China's. That's because this country of 1.3 billion citizens and $1.8 trillion in foreign exchange reserves is poised to become a major global player over the next decade. Yet, as Foreign Policy noted here, China policy went largely unaddressed during the election."

"Our bold prediction for the future
Obama has been elected president at a fascinating time for the world. While it's clear that the U.S. remains the world's economic leader, globalization and global development are continuing rapidly. We believe economic growth abroad will continue to outpace growth here at home, and our position at the center of the economic universe will diminish more and more over time, giving way to China, India, and the many other emerging markets."

The USA must go back to what we use to do best, that is make the best that a fair price can buy. You want crappy cheap stuff china is your game, if you want the best that will save you money and time in the long run. Then we will be your game, we must go back to our roots and be the best.

The fact is we could never under sell china, but we can build the best and most high tech stuff. Then sell our goods at a fair price, we use to do that before and can do that once again. Obama well level the playing field, but not in the way most people think he will. Global trade is here to stay, china and the other country's can under sell us.

But no country can beat us at making the best stuff, and the high tech stuff we can make. China has not been playing fair with us, and that use to be ok when we had big money. China will need to let us sell our goods, there and it will not hurt them because we sell to a different market.

Selling arms dirt cheap or even at a lose, will need to chance to making a profit on selling. While others may sell arms cheaper, we can sell the best stuff at a fair price. Other country's will need to let us sell our best goods, in their country's as our market no one else can take away.

Build high tech green autos, that will last a long time at a fair price. And many will buy them from us, and there will still be a big market here for china's goods. And people will want the best in many cases, in other cases they want the cheapest. It is clear obama going to loan auto makers, the money to retool and that will mean high tech well made autos.

They will sell in other country's, and other green techs goods will also sell. We use to own the best market, and we need to own them once again. It's a fact we can't under sell on price, but we can sell the best and most high tech. We need to WOW them, and they will buy. That our neche in the markets, and my guess it is missed by many.
