I tried getting WLS.com :)

It could very well not be branded as "wait listing service" by verisign and the registrars.

I am betting it will be called something else if/when if comes out.

"Domain Reserve" or something..

It'll be called all sorts of things. "Domain Back-order" is the most appropriate term. Congrats on the guy with the "-ing" reservation on Jan. 2nd.

NetworkSolutions - Next Registration Rights
eNom - FirstDibs

It's coming along. Things are going to start hopping in a month or so.

I think I am for, but I hate Verisign as well. In the early days when it was just NameWinner and SnapNames (at least as far as I knew) someone had a decent chance. Nowadays, folks like Ultsearch, et al. snatch all the good ones even if you have a snap. There's no guarantee anymore, and that get's pretty discouraging pretty quick for a part-timer like myself.

I always wondered what rules an ICANN acredited registrar has to play by when it comes to snatching up their clients' domain names. I once spoke with the CIO of Dotster, and he said he couldn't own more than a few domain names. With WLS, what will prevent registrars from playing (read: sabotaging) this game?

Ok, I am no Einstein, but, a stephenhawking I might be (own domain) :)

Haha. I own einsteinium.com -- close enough. :p
