Thanks for the reply, have been looking at this too. Sites look great, but worried abot the lack of features in the admin area compared to directorypress and even other apptheme themes such as the classified ads theme- that seems to have a much more comprehensive back-end.
How are you finding it in general, tempted to go ahead with it!
I am generally happy with the proviso that AppThemes seems to add continual updates and additional features to their themes. They did arguably release this theme prematurely. That said that have added features and recently made the theme responsive (I haven't updated to that version yet). There will be an, I gather, substantial update at the end of March. The AppThemes forum is very active and useful although finding some answers can ocassionally be slightly frustrating. My guess is that this is shared with other WP premium theme businesses. InkThemes forum seems fairly shallow and the DirectoryPress one is hidden except for customers. You can look at the AppThemes forum which might be useful to your evaluation.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to evaluate this type of software unless you purchase them all and then work with them too! If I didn't think that Vantage was going to grow, I might not be too happy. DirectoryPress looks pretty competent but I am not sure how versatile it is. I does look like it may be very useful for a beginner who doesn't know code as the interface seems to be pretty exacting as to the placement of elements, text, etc. With AppThemes, you can play some. Of course knowing HTML, CSS, and, the one that I don't know enough about, PHP is very helpful (top say the least!) if you are going to make custom mods. I suspect that that goes for the other themes too. It would be interesting if these other scripts showed modded versions of their themes as AppThemes does. BusinessDirectoryPplugIn.com does show working sites that use the plug-in but it looks pretty amateurish from a graphical perspective. For a small directory within a larger website it would likely be good though.
Good Luck!
