It doesn't really matter.That's exactly all those home buyers were led to believe over the years.
Don't for a second think, this didn't happen in the domain world.
Since you mentioned home...
Let's say there is Home with appraised value of $500,000.
Now, if there are many interested buyer, this price may go up.
Joe really must have this house for some reason and
Joe endup paying $750,000 and Joe is happy with it.
It doesn't matter you think Joe over paid.
Apprantly, this house is worth $750K to Joe since he is happy with it.
It's another story when Joe decide to sell this house.
But, Joe may never want to sell his house just as new owner of
Contests.com may not want to resell.
Or, Joe knows there is 100% sure buyer (buyer B) who would pay
$1 million for this house who wouldn't care about market price.
Maybe Joe knows that buyer B is Billionaire grew up in this house
and will buy this house for sentimental reason?
Bottom Line: Domain is exactly worth what buyer paid until it gets listed for sale again.
