TRAFFIC Domain Name Conference Auctions Evaluated in New Analysis by Research and Appraisal Company Zetetic

Based on analysis of 34,000 historical domain name sales, Zetetic projects the upcoming TRAFFIC Conference Domain Name Auction in Miami to yield nearly US$2 million in sales.

http://www.zetetic.com/about-zetetic/press-release-9-28-2007.html

My prediction: $3,000,000+ anyone else care to guess the total?

Well for one they are missing some good names that are in the live auction and if they really think sportinggoods.com is only worth 7,200 they are way off base by a lot. Based on that appraisal alone I will predict 25M in sales.

More self-proclaimed experts selling appraisals, :-/. Looked their site over and their methodologies: "regression analysis, historical comparables, cash flow analysis". Same old same old, but they got no "X-Factor" so their formulaic approach, imo, yields a margin of error = to or > 1000%.

crosswordpuzzles.com $ 299,800
taxes.com $ 15,800

These appraisals are more like in the drug zone.

I found appraisedomains.com to be the most reliable, and they DONT broker domains like others do.

I never hold any value in any appraisal services. In fact, in 9 years since I been in the domain industry I never look at one for buying or selling.
Feedback from fellow domainers on this forum will get you a much better appraisal.

Wait, I planned on spening $3M myself. I thought I respected zetetic's reports before, I guess they need to talk to Moniker before saying the auction is going to be 1/5 of what they think it will be. :)

I would not count these as legitimate appraisals - they do not have the stats or data that we have.

Thanks for clearing that up Monte! Taxes.com was missing a few zeros - I'm sure. Looking forward to seeing some record sales and plenty of press coverage from T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Miami. Best of Luck to Monte and Team!

Are you saying that you are also using statistical techniques, but with more stats and data?

Nobody uses appraisals anymore do they? I guess I'm more new school and I just use my ouija board.
