Nice potential brandable names. Not a lot of resale value, but not bad to have in the vault with the hopes that a good sales opportunity arises. These are the types of names that won't make PPC, aren't worth developing, but are well worth the renewals each year. If you register/buy enough of these and you have a good eye, then you will connect on a few good sales. You will have to get lucky, but they are decent names to take a shot with (assuming hand reg or cheap purchase).

Thanks WhoDatDog.

Roughly how much would you pitch them at to a design agency enquiring on behalf of a client?

I was approached out of the blue and had absolutely no idea where to begin.

If you were approached out of the blue by a design agency then you need to find out as much about this agency as possible. If they are in the big leagues then you should probably shoot for 5K or more. If they are small, then you might go a little lower. There are too many variables, but if a legitimate company is after the names then realistically they are likely to spend 10K or more.

You are going to have to feel out the situation and make your best judgments. Even if you know that you would take 1K for them, you still have to do the right thing and try to maximize the sale. The whole fun about the process is trying to get the most dollars without blowing the sale. That is what it is all about.

Yeah, I guess it is fun but, seriously, I'm just finding it nerve-wracking!

I didn't want to frighten them away and, among the domains I have, I didn't rate ismellgreat.com all that highly. My friend said I should start at EUR 5000, see how they react, let them bargain me down a bit but, I don't know - personally, if it was me enquiring, I would react to that by saying "You're crazy, goodbye!".

So, I quoted EUR 1500. I had decided that, at that price, I wouldn't accept any lower offers, I would stick firm to 1500, but, as it happens, they agreed to it right away, also enquiring about yousmellgreat.com, which I had mentioned in my first response to them. I said it was 2500, because it was a better name, but I would do both for 3500, knocking off 500 - that was, I now realize, a mistake but, what the Hell, I'm learning :)

So, EUR 3500 in total for both, that's about $4700. Judging from what you and biggedon have suggested, I think that is an okay, but not great, result.

Yeah, it was a marketing/design company that bought it on behalf of a client, almost certainly perfume or cosmetics - I hope they get good use out of the domains anyway.

Good Luck with that one

Much appreciated brother!
