That was a huge mess. This is even messier, I think.I CAN-NOT-BELIEVE Sedo hasn't learned from the fiasco of the premium .mobi auction at the end of 2007....!!!!
The core problem, then, was ending all the auctions at the same time, which crashed their systems. They declared, afterwards, that this could NEVER happen again 'cos they had learned from that searing experience.
That little mess got some of us into a 4 month stoush - that was only resolved with some very creative negotiations, involving a lot of bidders from all around the world + Sedo + the Registry...
Now, here is Sedo - not only ending this .de auction for thousands of names at the same time - but, also, running multiple other auctions simultaneously...!!!!
It'd be laughable if the consequences for many people were not so potentially serious.
There's a kind of morbid fascination at that kind of stupidity...
.
Now that the Sedo auction is over can the domains still be bid on through DENIC? I just went to DENIC.de and saw nothing about this. Is it too late now to bid on these?
Pretty sure they can charge whatever they want. Like every other registrar they set their own prices, it's just a matter of whether or not you choose to register/renew with them or not.
As long as they tell you upfront what you're in for, they could charge a million dollars for renewals if they wanted to.

you can see which names are still available
I'm guessing this site isn't realtime? I would think by now that all the 1 and 2 character domains are totally gone, no?
how much did realtime.at charge for pre-orders?
they got names like pc.de aswell
Amen to that....They were catching for themselves I think, can't blame them. Bet all the .de registrars will be down the pub getting pissed by now. It certainly has been a profitable day for them, what with certain registrars ending up with about a million Euros worth of names, give or take a few hundred k.

Have you ever seen the first 100 lines of a .com zone file?i think its a load of crap. can you imagine networlk solutions keeping all of the good names for themselves back in the day. i need to get my own registrar so i can have a constant unfair advantage.
I received some(was bidding on 3 digits .de)Anyone got notification that they won any of the Sedo auction names?
I just checked a few. DD24 got tv.de â congrats Sedo, that's close on 300k Euros in your back pocket.
realtime.at got a few of the one letter names I checked like i.de. You'd expect realtime.at to do well, as that's that they do â catch dropping names.
