I was kind of concerned about namesecure requiring a credit card number, but I made sure to give them an actual credit card number instead of my visa check card number so if they charge me, I can call AMEX and reverse the charge and I kept a printed out copy of the advertisement.

Just use DomainSite.com they dont require any billing information..... and the funny thing is Afilias says this costs registrars around 0.75 per .info registered plus any costs they have for support.

Also if any registrants double up the regiistrar has to pay for it at the end of each month.

Let's think about this.
Free domains with no limits?
someone is pounding the servers getting 1000's of different names for free under different usernames.
There is 0 type of verification to stop them from doing so.
No image.
No CC info.
Etc.
This should have been thought of :p
I can't even get on to the site now..

I think this majorly devalues .INFO sites if Afilias has to come up with these kind of offers to try and boost their registration numbers and bottom line. 21,844 new registrations according to whois.sc I was unable to register 25 names because the site went down.

Some of the most successful businesses is history use give away promotion to create a buzz about their product/service and get people hooked. By the way isn't this supposed to be discussed in a different forum?

On a thread related note, is domainsite.com still down? I've a couple times today and still got no response?

What happened -- DomainSite has been down for at least a day. Was it attacked?
