I dunno. I went 0 for 5 in Live of which 2 had bids (not enough though) and 3 did not.
At Internext, I went 1 for 13 in live and 1 for 44 in Silent. Not exactly the finish I was hoping for. In short, the results (for me) sucked big time and it was very frustrating.
Yes, there is and always has been a percentage of really crappy names. I think a small amount of names, particularly ones without a reserve, are deliberately included to open up bidding to those without a lot of money to spend. If all were "premium" no one could afford it. I mean, isn't every domain premium??
But it's Moniker's auction, not ours, and I'm grateful for the venue as it was more than I had before. I've had good auctions and not-so-good. As one member put it after the Internext Live, "Being in Silent is the kiss of death." This wasn't what I was looking for to start 2008.
And I'll remain optimistic despite any perceived shortcomings that may exist. They can't force people to stick around until the end. The names are drawn at random for their show order. They can't force people to buy and there is no accounting for the buyer's tastes as a beholder, especially when it comes to "premium" domains, but the buyer controls the purse strings, not Moniker.
They don't get paid a commission if they can't sell them.
