Sold a long-forgotten-about domain a couple of weeks back and was wondering what to do with some of the proceeds, then noticed that the .co people were making Asian IDNs available as of last night. Had a sniff around and after a some caffeine & nicotine, I ended up with this lot:

Yeah, was thinking along a similar line. Will have to have a word with a couple of friends who are more conversant in those languages. Any thoughts as to how I'd go about knocking something up for each domain, i.e. just setting up optimised parking pages or creating something more bespoke for each one?

Search volume is not the measure of domain value.
IDNs are very speculative and the TLD isn't first-grade really. Can't remember one single reported sale in .co for an IDN domain, at least in Asian charset.

Biggie - if I hadn't been able to get them at a reasonable discount, then I'd have only bought about half a dozen at most. Nescafé has a lot to answer for in this instance

Katherine - rather than typing them in to the form on here, I did a bit of copypasta from my spreadsheet and the GAKT score was one of several columns I'd been using to try and determine some kind of value for each name. So yeah, I won't be using that as the sole factor for looking at things. Guess in the end, it's the same as everything else - things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them, rather than what the seller thinks they're worth.

Am still at the bottom end of the learning curve...

I've had some great sales with IDN over the years and still have a couple hundred com's and net's with traffic and revenue, so I'll stick up for them a bit. The reason there hasn't been a reported Asian IDN .co sale is because....they just launched April 15th, hence Mr. Bridger's list.

.CO is obviously no .com, but I do think it has some potential in Japan seeing as how .co.jp is widespread, typing 'co' is a bit more natural. There will probably be no big traffic or revenue on them, but you're list is mostly cream of the crop. A random offer is not out of the question, and that's what we're all in it for! If you can afford to just hang on and wait, I wouldn't be surprised if you sold one for a decent amount.

I wasn't prepared for the launch and only went for 4 Asian IDN.co domains, and only got 1, but I believe I ended up with *the* one. It's gotten 8 hits. Probably other domainers, we'll see if it keeps up.

I understand the language of Chinese and Japanese, IDN domains are not popular at all in either China or Japan. Somehow co could be a hack for .co.jp ,but the potentials does not seems to be high at the moment. And for Mainland China, people prefer com or cn, and co has not been recognized at all at the moment.

I personal prefer 打折.co 食物.co, and the rest of them I don't think they even worth the reg fee. Anyway, good luck to you.

P.S In my personal opinion, please do not reg Hiragana or Katakana for Japanese IDN, they don't worth a penny.
