Should I pay the $50 and sign up for Afternic??

---------------------------------------
IF AfterNic allows appraisals again, AND if you sometimes reg DN's and wonder 'What was I thinking?!' -then 'yes' ,join AN.
EX: I regged ANdomains.com
You can sell some of these names for a few dollars profit to the speculators there.

When Afternic.com arrived on the scene, they were the solution to GD domination and 'most' people thought they were great.

Then along came 'pro' DN resellers, who joined ranks with each other and formed little cliques that;

bid on each others' auctions,
played games to make their names look popular,
failed to keep thier portfolios up to date,
went crazy with ridiculous appraisals,
made a joke of the Domains Wanted section,
posted endless AN insults on forums and chat,
etc., etc., etc.

The results? AN decided to change the way they operate and now everyone hates them.

Afternic.com didn't screw themselves up, resellers did.

What a waste of a resource.

I agree, but my problem with AN was having to wait 30 days to get paid and -0- support.

Yes, I don't deny the service issues. I've slammed my keyboard a couple of times  waiting for email replies, but they always came... eventually.

I hope that in the future, we will find a website, a domain Ebay, so to speak, where everybody goes and everybody trusts. Buyers and Sellers rejoice! Is this a dream?

Maybe AfterNic or Sedo will get us there someday?

I get knocked down, but I get up again.
You're never going to keep me down.

I've noticed that on Afternic too. There are six or seven people on there who bid ridiculous amounts on each others domain names - names that would sell realistically for $10-$20. The names are not sold, but the bids keep going up and up. It's as if they are playing a game.

And the people playing it are the people responsible for screwing up AN and us, domain name resellers out of a valuable resource.
